ColorChallenge sundaypurple - Hesperis or night violet
Hesperis is a flower known for its unusual aroma, which in Greek means evening. The name was given to the plant in ancient times for the fact that its flowers are filled with fragrance and intoxicating aroma surrounding air with the onset of the evening, at night.
Distributed in the European part of Russia, it occurs almost everywhere, from roadsides to forest fringes, banks of water bodies. Sometimes it is white and purple. The plant is a perennial plant, but it is considered to be a two-year plant - it usually falls out for the third year and grows from the seeds again.
Useful properties of the plant:
Traditional medicine uses Hesperis as a diuretic and diaphoretic. Belgians apply crushed leaves to the tumor. Leaves and twigs are used in folk veterinary medicine. Fat oil is used in the production of soap. It is an excellent honey-bearer, it is actively visited by bees, bumblebees, butterflies.
Hesperis balances between a cultivated garden and a decorative weed.
