KOOKABURRA ABSTRACT.

An Australian Kookaburra poses against an Indigo Sky. They are one of my favourite Australian Birds.

This is my entry for today's Colour Challenge organized by @kalemandra Theme: SaturdayIndigo

There are two types of Australian Kookaburra. They are the Laughing Kookaburra and the Blue Winged Kookaburra. The Laughing Kookaburra is easy to identify in appearance and in sound. They are also characterized by their white bellies and brown flecked wings. Whereas the Blue Winged Kookaburra’s laugh is coarser than the Laughing Kookaburra’s which ends quite abruptly.

The Blue Winged Kookaburra’s appearance differs from the Laughing Kookaburra by the brown stripe along their eyes which look like masks and their tails and wings are adorned with attractive blue feathers.

good job!

Thanks very much @sardrt 🌺

This is fabulous @trudeehunter! We used to sing the Kookaburra song as kids.

Kookaburra sits on the old gum tree,
Merry merry king of the bush is he.
Laugh, Kookaburra, laugh, Kookaburra,
Gay your life must be!

It’s a very popular song in the schools @countrygirl. Did you sing 🎶 it in Canada 🇨🇦 or did you live in Australia 🇦🇺 for a while? Your visit, great comments and kind upvote are much appreciated. Thank you.

In Canada!! It might have been when I was in Girl Guides or grade school. But I remember the words to the one verse anyhow. I've never been to Australia. My sister lived in Wallongong for about 2 years while her husband started a company there. All I remember is her photos and stories of the large spiders. What a ritual she went through to kill them. That was so long ago, probably 20+ years now. :)

I learned something today! I didn't know that there were two types of kookaburras. The blue-tinged wings are really pretty.

They are wonderful birds @cecicastor Unless of course they decide to wake you up before the crack of dawn when you are in a deep sleep. I love the shape of them too with their round heads and bodies and chunky beaks. Thank you for our visit and welcome comments. Your ongoing support is very much appreciated.

Very cool art, I love it!

Thanks very much @shieha 🌸

Hi trudeehunter. I had a look through your digital art and some of those pictures are fantastic. I'd be interested to see how the original photograph looks compared to the digital art you transform it into. :)

Hi @theblackcrow Here is the original for comparisons. You can see that it is not the best quality photo and that is why I decided to give him a digital makeover as I liked the overall composition.

I can't see whats wrong with the quality in this one, but then again I know feck all about photography. I do know that the digital makeover turned this fairly standard picture and made it a whole lot more vibrant and interesting. Thanks for showing me the original! :)

Thank you very much for your interest @theblackcrow I will try and dig out the original amongst a huge stack of original bird photos and send it to you. One of the main reasons I like to apply a filter to a photo is, to hide flaws that editing wont cover up. So, if I like the general composition, I'll endeavour to find a digital application that will suit the image. I'll be back soon.
