ColorChallenge - SaturdayIndigo - My Blue Period Revisited
This post is part of the #colorchallenge organized by @kalemandra.
For those of you who don't already know, I am kind of obsessed with making patterns out of photographs...most of the time my own photos but sometimes other peoples'...with their permission, of course...sometimes after the fact. ;) Anyway, it is such a fun process to take the original photo and transform it into something unexpected or just flat out weird! Through manipulating the photo by slicing it every which way and piecing it back together then playing with the colors and textures and Photoshop, I have found the possibilities to be endless!
I picked a few patterns that fit with today's color challenge as well as a couple other bonus images to share with you. Check out this links listed below each design/image to see them printed on everything from apparel to home decor and much more in my Redbubble Shop!
On a bit of a side note, I am currently in a phase of reinventing myself. My life has taken a series of wacky, unexpected turns and I have decided to follow the path where my passions can blossom into something far beyond what I could have ever imagined. It's time to stop messing around and finding every excuse for why this can't happen. In the past, I have cringed as I posted a link to my Redbubble Shop or even promoted myself in any way feeling like I was being a pushy salesperson. While it is not my nature to bring attention to myself, it has become necessary if I am going to fulfill my intentions. So there you have it!
I would love to hear any input or suggestions you might have for me in my endeavor of getting my work (photography, art and designs) out into the world so, please leave me your comments below.
Enjoy!
"GlasWear Mandala" - This one brings to my mind Ming Dynasty vases but with a bit of Stafordshire Calico Blue thrown in for good measure. I believe this design will be start of a new era…destined to be a classic in its own rite!
I am fortunate to have photographer friends that allow me to use their work in my creative ventures. This design is one of many that was a result of a collaboration with fellow Steemian, Brent Sanders @brentssanders

"Celtic Cross" - How many shades of blue can you find in this pattern? The color is so vibrant and deep! This design has made it to the top of my list of favorites: I mean, seriously, what’s not to LOVE?!
This is another result of a collaboration with Brent Sanders @brentssanders that came from the same photo of origin as "GlasWear Mandala". Go figure!

"Steely Blues" - This design came from a photo I took walking down the street in San Luis Obispo, California. My initial aim was to get a cool, fun house mirror-like shot - an abstract selfie. What you are seeing is the color of my hoodie and the nearby businesses reflected in the rim of a spare tire on the back of a jeep. Beauty is everywhere!

"Sunset Silhouette" - I enjoy hiking in the hills especially late in the day when the light is soft and the world is peaceful. The sky was gorgeous this night and made for the perfect backdrop for these interesting blooms.

"Morning Glory" - In our backyard, we had a gorgeous Morning Glory vine. When the sun would hit the blooms it would look as if they were glowing from the inside! I had a good time playing with this image in Photoshop and really enjoy the texture in the leaf.

Wow! The first one reminded me of Portuguese azulejos you can find in and around Lisboa:
Crazy resemblance, no?
Indeed! There have been times my designs remind me of tile or fabric designs I have seen. All of these patterns are waiting for us to discover them...in nature, in ordinary things... It is truly fascinating to me!
The first one is mezmerizing. Along with the second they represent a symbol often used in the Bulgarian traditional embroidery. It is a crossed cross, which locks the intention of "Be Happy"' . The weirdest thing is that it can be seen in the Native American symbols. Wish you all the success you can inagine <3 will resteem for support!
Those first 2 are from one of Brent's @brentssanders Bulgarian nature shots...your traditions are built into the landscape!
"Be Happy"? Wasn't that part of the henna tattoo you did for me?
Thank you so much for your support, dear Gabi! You are a sweet and special person and I am so happy our paths have crossed!!!
You shouldn't be afraid of self-promotion, Sam, as there is so much of yourself to promote! Glad I can be a part of the process! P.S. That Morning Glory pic looks like it was taken by someone on Morning Glory :D
We all have our fears to face, don't we? Thank you for your constant encouragement to "GET OVER IT"! I really do appreciate that.
As for the the Morning Glory pic...it would actually need to be spinning to match my accidental experience with Belladonna. ;)
Oh? Tell us on social media about it! :D
If only I could do it justice through my description.
Well, you can always try :)
There would have to be an interpretive dance portion as well as an otherworldly light show. After I realized I was probably going to live through the experience it was actually quite cool.
Sounds like an intriguing project.
Nice pictures!
Glad you like them! Thanks for upvote and comment!
Thank you!
