Color Challenge Thursday Green. Lady on a Tall ship.

Do you think submarine, fishing boat or big tall ship is not good place for a girl? In last 7 years I saw hundreds of woman driving all kinds of boats, as a captain or part of crew. They drove tourists for whale watching, navigateing boats by stars, and replace giant pieces of wood on the body of 100 year old ships, so easily, alike they change a diaper for the baby. I Can't say it's already half number of women in these professions, but more than 20% I'm sure. It is big change if 100 years before was less than 1%. Times when girl on board was a bad sign, pass forever. Here you can see probably future captain or navigator in early stages.

This kind of life don't give you any discount if you don't have enough muscles to make hard handwork, you will work by head or eyes, cooking or cleaning.

Anyway you will have not enough time for sleep and rest. 6 hours work / 6 hours rest that's normal timetable on the board, so on 24 hours you have 2 working days. 

Normally after 6 hours running here and there on the deck you have just enough power to eat something fast and find your sleeping place. If your bed is free, and it's not wet, you already not sea sick, and not scared anymore, you're lucky my congratulations!

You can sleep 4-5 hours before next watch begins. Sounds not so romantic and easy, but every day more and more ladies start to try themselves in these professions. Huge part of them stay for long on the ships, some even for all the life. I'm glad it is going like this in our times..
