The Vertical Garden of the Caixa Forum

Next to the Atocha station, close to the Prado Museum, the famous Moyano slope with its permanent book fair and attached to the mythical Calle de Atocha, is this vertical parterre that does not reach the spectacular Mercure Hotel ( by the waterfall nothing more) but that is also impressive and very beautiful.

What makes it so special? 🌿

I tell you that it is quite impressive because, as you walk between streets and high blocks of flats, it seems that it comes out of nowhere, bumping into your eyes. Then it is when you realize that you have been 5 minutes like a statue without being able to stop looking at it.

Wonder all your senses because you see its leafiness and because you get to be able to see a hanging forest giving a feeling that exclaims that the city has not yet been able to mother nature and that it is still very latent.

Despite the tons of cement and concrete that Madrid has, it has many spaces where you can take a break like El Retiro, El Jardín Tropical inside the Atocha Station, the Campo del Moro, the Botanical Garden, the Country House and many more spaces.

It was created taking advantage of a reform of the building made in 2007 by a French botanist named Patrick Blanc that gave life to 19 meters wide and 25 meters high and its 480 m² surface.

Fun fact: you do not need land to stay alive. Its diet is based on water and special nutrients for plants. Nor is an electric lawnmower or gasoline used to care for this delicacy for sight.
