ColorChallenge FridayBlue - What Am I Doing Wrong on Steemit That My Posts Do Not Get More Interaction?
So for the last 2 weeks I have been really active here taking part in a #colorchallenge initiated by @kalemandra... I shared photos taken by me so it is original photos, gave some interesting info about the photos as opposed to some posts that I've seen where people just shared a photo with basically no info about the photo or where it was taken or what camera was used for the photo...
I even took time to come up with some additional interesting info for using the photos to create #digitalart as in this post, left thoughtful comments on other members' photos and contributions, upvoted their posts, replied to their comments...
and still, my earnings here are pathetic!!!
I'm not in the position to spend hours here on Steemit or join communities and chat away the whole day as I have a lot of other offline commitments that take up my time in a day. But I do enjoy sharing my photos in the #colorchallenge and trying my best to make my posts interesting.
So I am asking tonight... what is YOUR secret to be successful on Steemit and getting other members to come to your posts, upvote it, reply to it, resteem it or whatever it is one has to do here to be successful and to get a following and of course also to earn more and more on every post you do here?
It is SO discouraging when you decide to become active on a platform because the reason you joined (and let's be honest here) is that you were promised that it is the easiest way to earn big money these days by just doing one or two posts a day and commenting/upvoting on other people's content and also of course joining communities...
Am I posting at the wrong time of day? That thought also crossed my mind as I am living in #southafrica which is approximately 6-8 hours difference to the USA members... but on the other hand, that can also not be the reason as there are members from all over the world and from different time zones...
and I have seen in the last days when I uploaded my photos for the colorchallenge that many members here are from the Asian/Eastern countries and they are also very active when I do my posts BUT MANY OF THEM are making a lot more per post than I am... so what is their secret? Where can I find out what they are doing or what anybody else who are really earning a lot here, are doing on a consistent basis?
To stop this from becoming a very long uninteresting post that nobody is going to read until the end anyway... I will end with these words: What to do, what to do...
BECAUSE I am feeling just as blue as the candles in my #colorchallenge for #fridayblue that just slowly got weaker and weaker in the November heat in South Africa and eventually had to give way to pressure and found themselves down and out...
That is exactly how I feel today... why go on on Steemit anymore???
Hell! I can take this photo and turn it into an e-book cover for tips to make candles or how to make candles that will not get soft in extreme heat conditions ad sell it on an e-book cover site to people who write books about candle making!
Now I am sharing this photo here on Steemit in a #colorchallenge in the hope that I will at least get acknowledgement for my efforts AND for my photo!!!
I'm not even going to use my normal "brand" separator image here tonight to end this post...
Last words... just wondering if it is worth it to be a member of Steemit???
I'm out of here...
Have fun with posting your photos
Thinking about splurging on a more professional camera, what are you using?
@rocketsteem... Oh damn... maybe I misunderstood your comment because it seems you are also sometimes talking in "shorthand" like I tend to do... did you mean YOU are thinking about splurging out on a more professional camera? If I have the money to buy a new camera today, I would really go for one of the latest Canon cameras... don't ask me which one, I will still have to do some research... but Canon would be my choice... although I love the FUJIFILM cameras but I had in the past years... but now Canon is my dream camera... ok, my brother who is a professional photographer would tell you to buy a Nikon... don't ask me more... way out of my finances...
So what you are actually saying is that my photos are not good enough for the photo challenge? I used my FUJIFILM FinePix S4200 for this photo and although I know that I will never win a competition for the best photo ever taken! I've seen a lot of photos in this colorchallenge where the quality is not nearly as good as my photos. I thought that this colorchallenge competition had more to do about color than quality and that it is supposed to be a fun challenge for everybody to showcase their photos...
