At the western end of Kyoto, there is Arashiyama (or Storm Mountain, near the Ooi River) designated as a historical site and scenic site under the Japanese monument classification system.

Arashiyama sightseeing in other areas according to the season is cherry blossoms in spring and autumn and the color of autumn changes. Fun fact: Sagano bamboo forest is located to the north of Togetsukyo Bridge (Moon Crossing Bridge). Depending on which bank you are standing in, the river you are facing is the Hozu River (west) or Katsura River (east).
