Colonial Mentality

You are beautiful if you have fair skin. It's really sad that most of us have that kind of mentality.

Others look down and make fun of others for their dark skin, calling them 'Negra', 'Ulikba' and such. That's why most of us are obsessed over whitening products without thinking the harmful effects that we can get like skin cancer. We are willing to sacrifice our health just because we want to feel confident, we want to look beautiful in everyone's eyes, and we want to have a skin that we can flaunt everywhere.

But on the other hand, when are we going to embrace our own 'Morena' skin color? When are we going to stop making fun of people who have 'naturally tanned' Filipino skin?
