In this article it states that the average American graduates college with a little over $32,000 in debt. I find those numbers to be very low compared to my friends that went to a 4 year college and are well over $100,000 in debt. I believe the number seems so low because it is mixed with people like me who went to a 2 year tech college and walked away with about $18,000 in debt. I am here to tell you that straight out of high school you will be told to go to college and get your life started. Please do not do that. You need to find what you want to do in life before you go blow 100 grand on an underwater basket weaving degree that will have no use to you in the real world.
Once you have decided on your interests then and only then should you pursue a college degree. Try to get some sort of internship before graduating highschool to see if it is what you really want to do. Find someone who works in that field and talk to them.
