CoinGecko now partners with Decentraland!

We at CoinGecko are happy to announce a partnership with Decentraland, a virtual reality platform powered by the Ethereum blockchain!
As a company, we're excited to be exploring a few spaces within the Cryptocurrency industry right now. The first of course was becoming more active in the de-facto leader of blockchain-powered social media content platform project, which is Steem by the way. Other than that, we are extremely passionate about the potential that non-fungible tokens (NFT) offer and we are excited to play an active role in the development of this space.
To that end, we're proud to announce that @coingecko has its very own parcel of LAND situated at coordinate (-56,116)!
Just in case you don't know, Decentraland is a Virtual Reality platform powered by the Ethereum blockchain where you can buy LAND and build amazing things in it. Eventually, they will work towards a fully-fledged VR space where interactions are immutably recorded on the Ethereum Blockchain.

I was not aware of the existence of the Secondlife in the Decentralized world! This can create an entire industry of virtual assets ... Thanks for the information and yes, congrats on your new asset :-)
ERC-721 has made the creation of individually unique tokens, @decentraland certainly took it another step further by being the first to marry the concept of (virtual) property titles to non-fungible tokens.
No way we're not joining that party!
ERC-721 can be mimicked on Steem as of now. May not be the full spec as such but things like 1. uniqueness, immutability, cryptographic proofs etc. (2) Further, the ERC-721 as such doesn't create value. ie, there will not be any value stored in the token as such. ie, an ERC-721 token cannot store say, 1 Etherium in it. In Steem, using the escrow and vesting features, its actually possible to store a value to the token. Also instead of the token, it will be a regular account tied to a specific user using multi-sig :-)
We did a prototype for a game called PixelFarm and our drgaons and pets were represented this way.
This is interesting.. we're curious to know more.
