Welcome Rachael Horwitz, Coinbase Vice President of Communications

Coinbase is currently experiencing a period of profound growth. This growth and increased awareness and adoption of cryptocurrency creates a huge opportunity for Coinbase. In order to take full advantage of that opportunity we are working quickly to expand our executive team to include some of the most experienced and talented people working in technology and finance today. This includes the recent additions of Emilie Choi (Vice President of Corporate and Business Development), Tina Bhatnagar (Vice President of Operations and Technology) and Eric Scro (Vice President of Finance).

Today, we’re very pleased to welcome Rachael Horwitz to our leadership team. With a long track record of helping new and emerging technology trends break through to mainstream audiences, Rachael will help us tell the story of all the ways digital currencies are creating an open and fair global financial system.

Rachael comes to us from Spark Capital (a Coinbase investor), where she was a partner at the firm leading marketing and communications and acting as an advisor to portfolio founders. Before that Rachael served as Director of Technology Communications at Facebook. Prior to Facebook, Rachael was at Twitter, where she spent four years working to scale the communications team and developing the company’s narrative. Joining Twitter when there were only 400 employees, Rachael helped to guide the company through massive growth and its initial public offering.

Our mission is to create an open financial system for the world that brings about innovation, efficiency and economic freedom to more people. In order for us to achieve this goal, we must ensure that all communities understand and have access to knowledge about this fast-moving space. Rachael is uniquely positioned to help us do just that. Her experience navigating growth from a communications, policy and marketing perspective on behalf of some of Silicon Valley’s most iconic companies will be invaluable to Coinbase at this time.
