Most of us mortals like a cup of coffee wherever we are on this Planet, but is not always easy to order a cup of coffee if you are American in Italy or Portugal or vice-versa, of course there are tea lovers but tea is a far easier drink to order!!
So you are a Foreigner coming to Portugal, Spain, Italy or France and want a cup of coffee so how should you ask?? I think I can help you with that.
Portugal:
Espresso: Simply order an espresso or Bica!!
Cafe latte: Bit harder to pronounce Galão!!
Flat white: Meia de leite!!
Long Black: Cafe Cheio!!
Americano: Abatanado!!
Cappuccino: Simply order Cappuccino!!
Please: Por Favor!! Thank you: Obrigado!!
Spain:
Espresso: Café solo!!
Cafe latte: Leche Manchada!!
Flat white : Café con leche!!
Long black: Café doble lleno!!
Americano : Simply called café Americano!!
Cappuccino: Simply order Cappuccino!!
Please: Por Favor !! Thank you: Gracias !!
France:
Espresso: Un café or Un Expresso!!
Cafe latte: Un café latte!!
Long black: Un afé allongé !!
Americano: Un Café américain!!
Cappuccino: Un cappuccino!!
Please: S'il vous plaît!! Thank you: Merci!!
