The best place to see elephants in Sri Lanka is the National Day park. The small area of the 9 National Parks in Sri Lanka is an area of 90 square kilometers, and the whole park is covered by grassy grasslands and tall forest trees. The giant water storage lake, built in third Century by King Sri kamarhine, is the country's most important wild elephant habitat, with elephants coming from areas such as Matala, polonnaruwa and Trincomalee, with up to two, three hundred.

In 1938, the area was designated as a wildlife sanctuary by the government. It was officially named National Park in August 12, 1997.
