Does Wearing Sexy Outfits Make You Less Respectable?

in #clothing6 years ago (edited)

PHILIPPINES is a conservative country. Despite the fact that many women are very much confident about flaunting their body in public, some people would really raise their brows and judge them. Some would even blame their clothes for being catcalled or raped as if they wanted to be harassed. Others think that those who "shamelessly" wear revealing attires doesn't deserve to be respected. Some men thinks that when a woman wears a revealing outift, she's trying to get attention and wants to seduce the people around her. Thus, flirting with that woman to the point of harassing her is an idea of fun for them. And when the woman complaints, they'd put the blame on her because she was wearing a provocative outfit.

Is it okay to wear sexy clothes?

Does it make you less respectable?

First of all, let me ask you, what's your reason for dressing up like that? Yes, there has to be a reason for wearing something that the society deems inappropriate. If your reason is that you just want to flaunt your body so the people can feast their eyes on it, then you are making a big mistake. You might earn their admiration but they would look at you with lust in their eyes and would even think of you as a sex symbol. As a woman, you certainly don't deserve that. You have to put value in yourself a little bit more. You have to respect yourself if you want others to respect you in return.

Is there even a right reason to wear sexy outfits? Yes, I believe so. If you've put so much hardwork to achieve your desired body, then there's nothing wrong with making people see the fruit of your labor. And that's not because you want to show off or seduce them but because you want to inspire people to work hard if they want to have a fit and well-toned body like yours. It doesn't matter if people thinks otherwise. A few would really misjudge you and wouldn't buy your reasons. But who cares? Your intention is what truly matters. If you know that you are doing it for the right reasons, then by all means, feel free to disregard their comments.

Some women finds being sexy as an art or a way of expressing themselves. They feel good when they show more of their skin, they become more comfortable and more confident with their bodies and it makes them embrace themselves even better. Some agrees to become a model of nude painting and others even landed a job as models. They don't intend to be disrespected or mistreated. They simply wanted to express themselves and that is something not all would understand. Their definition of self-expression and art can be different from the majority of people in our society but we have to respect them.

A respectable person isn't defined by what he or she wears. Thus, it is determined by the person's actions and good deeds. What's the use of wearing clothers that fully covers your body if you are arrogant, judgemental and selfish? It's really not about your choice of clothings. So, if you have the right reasons to show more skin, then do so. It's your body and as long as you know your limitations and as long as you know that you're not abusing it, then be comfortable in wearing what you want to wear.

I will say from my view as a man in early 30's.

Wearing less clothes its sexy indeed, its always nice view and attractive, sometimes you get alot of "ioi"s ( indication of interests) from the males and its nice, your ego grows and you get confident, you feel like a goddess and you raise your standards, but its not good all the time having raised standards ( i will create a post about).

But, always its a but, as a man you don't try to find someone who is so sexy all the time for a long term relationship, for build something togheter, for sigurance, for stability or a family.

For sex, of course you looking, one night stand or few dates until sex, but the evolution stops somewhere at this level, he will see you as a sex machine or someone who its incredible for his sex needs.

Again here its a huge discussion, wearing less clothes and beeing sexy will fit way more better if you have other qualities, if you are smart, if you are loyal to your man, if you are not a party animal who spends all your time on night clubs or somewhere to socialize non stop.

As a man, having a girl with so much desire beeing in the center of everything its a huge stress, believe or not. Sooner or later, the man will let you go because even he likes you to the sky, he cant handle your style and maybe he doesnt wants to.

This subject its huge, you cant cover all aspects in few words like i did, also depends on you and what are your desire, what type of men you looking for, what age you have, what turns you on, what long term goals you have and so on.

I will create some content about this subject in the future, but in this moment im in a lack of time.

EDIT: Beeing sexy, most of the time fits with own personality, a personality who cant be digest by everybody or appreciate by all.

We live in a society expert in judging people before open their mouth, before knowing them or try to know them, only by aspects.

Much to talk about it.

Follow me if you want of course. All the best.

It honestly depends on your definition of sexy outfit.
Back home in most African countries, anything above the knee, and revealing shoulders, too much neck is deemed sexy.
As compared to the Philippines, short dresses , sleeveless are still much acceptable and not deemed revealing, yet in my country.. U cannot enter a public office with leggings , but leggings here are widely acceptable.. Hahahaja
But having lived in both worlds, i know exactly where the issue lies. You have given me an idea for a post.

On the other hand, most women dont wear sexy clothes with literal intentions of attracting the opposite sex. And that shouldnt be an excuse for rape.HER BODY, HER CHOICE. Women are just comfortable in their own skin . Whoever sees a woman in revealing clothes screaming sex or rape is a PERVERT and the real issue . they are the ones to be checked, unless such is worn in an environment that is meant for such, eg strip bars.

Lastly, i think culture should play a big role. We have been so westernized that we forget our origin and decency.
Women should also dress for their body type.

Arguing from 3 sides of the coin.

I rest my case.

Absolutely @purpletanzanite. It all comes out with respect on both sides. Respect yourself in your own ways and be responsible on how you treat others.

this is the perspective I hold-

Some women finds being sexy as an art or a way of expressing themselves. They feel good when they show more of their skin, they become more comfortable and more confident with their bodies and it makes them embrace themselves even better.

You are right that each person has his/her own reason to dress the way she/he chooses and regardless of what it looks like, people always deserve respect!

Absolutely @natureofbeing. Thanks for sharing your insights about this post. It is clearly an important issue in our society because our country is known for being a conservative one. Little by little people start to be influenced by other cultures. Then again, still much respect. It all depends on their perspective of wearing it.

Yes i agree with you @jassennesaj. Respect yourself first if you want others will respect you. Wear sexy dress in a proper way and in the right place.

Thanks @chibas.arkanghil. Respect in both parties.

Sexy is good, as long as it's not dirty.

This sentence summarized the post :)

Clothing is a way of expression. I dont see anything bad in wearing shorts or clothes that show of more of our skin, BUT OF COURSE in proper place. :) For me, as long we are comfortable and confident and being true to ourselves, then it’s fine. :) Respect from others starts with respecting ourselves.

At least I think men can also dress sexy, and techwear shows another kind of "sexy"

To the question in your title, my Magic 8-Ball says:

Wearing a seductive clothes in the public can be pretty bad.... why must they show the "fruits of their labour" ...is that not a way of showing off... There are kinda ways to show off the fruit of your labour apart from wearing seductive clothes. And moreover it is not biblical.

I'm not trying to criticize your bro.... Don't forget you said

Nice write @jassennessaj 👍👍

I respect the way they dress themselves but wearing an outfit that gives motives to some men will make them less respected, It's like they don't know what their values are, how precious their bodies are. thats is why it makes them less respected, nowadays, some men will look at them like they're completely naked by the outfit. It can not hardly be called a fashion. It just clearly says that she failed at being a woman. sorry in advance for those who'd get offended
