834 MILLION DEAD TREES in Colorado!! How the fuck did I miss that??
A remember a few years ago when I was looking for something on the internet and one of the search results said 600 million trees dead in Colorado. It was only a small percentage of the trees in Colorado, so I figured it wasnt a big deal. But the tree die-off rates appear to be increasing and one must wonder how long will this shit be sustainable? And when I recall the fact that I was seaching for information on tree die-off in California, Im reminded this is not an isolated trend. I dont know a lot but Im pretty sure trees are important.
So now Im surfing the web and see the Colorado dead tree count is now up to 834 million!

No I dont but it seems this would have had a little more national coverage. i see it was covered in U.S. News but not on my local t.v. news
you would think they might have covered the raging wildfires this summer too. imho a lot of ecological things arent making the news because someone doesnt want it to be a topic of discussion. Instead we are hearing that the American dream is alive and well...

With that many standing dead trees, fires caused by lightning strikes have to be more likely

There was a separate article talking about tree die off a few years ago that had some discussion about the rate at which the trees were dying. The articles I was reading the other day was focused on how the dead trees are fire hazards. Its nearly 8000 acres killed by beetles!
