Getting robbed on xmas eve
Sometimes bad things happen in the worst moments, last year on this very date we decided to go for a walk to the local xmas market with the kids, we left our home at about 18:00 for just about 90 minutes returned home and put dinner in the oven.
The funy part of the story ( I say funny because of the irony) was that we watched home alone. After dinner we had planned to go out for drinks and dancing which is customary on xmas eve in Spain. The thief or thieves had not made a mess so it was not until that we realized that we had we been robbed during the time that we left the house. Our cash savings were gone some of the gold I had received after my grandmothers death and a few other things including a tablet that belonged to my daughter. We had some very hard times in the following weeks after the holidays as in the winter we are normally unemployed and only receiving a small subsidy.
This crushed our holidays, for weeks the kids woke up with nightmares and I just felt angry, the police basically did nothing to assist us. The strange thing is that we have 3 dogs in the house and they were all there during the burglary, including a german sheppard and a large german pointer, I can only imagine that somebody close to us decided to ruin our holidays. The dogs were given treats and we had left a balcony door ope just a crack for our cats to be able to get in and out, this we don't do anymore.
Now we are carefull and have installed some security improvements, but on this one anniversary of this horrible moment It all comes back and still hurts. It would be amazing to find out who did this to us and get some closure just for the sake of knowing.
I hope you all stay safe and have a great Christmas
