YOU YOURSELVES DO WRONG AND CHEAT
"NO, YOU YOURSELVES DO WRONG AND CHEAT, and you do these things to your brethren!"
1 Corinthians 6:8 (NKJV)
Comment: Here Apostle Paul was addressing the person who claimed to be a believer and did a wrong thing to his fellow believer. That the unrighteous, or the wicked, or the unjust, or wrongdoers, will not inherit the kingdom of God:
8 NO, YOU YOURSELVES DO WRONG AND CHEAT, AND YOU DO THESE THINGS TO YOUR BRETHREN! 9 DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT THE UNRIGHTEOUS WILL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD? DO NOT BE DECEIVED. NEITHER FORNICATORS, NOR IDOLATERS, NOR ADULTERERS, NOR HOMOSEXUALS, NOR SODOMITES, 10 NOR THIEVES, NOR COVETOUS, NOR DRUNKARDS, NOR REVILERS, NOR EXTORTIONERS WILL INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD" (1 Corinthians 6:8-10 NKJV).
Some believers do things and live as If heaven is not their goal.
In another similar passage, Apostle Paul said God avenges for such a dirty act, immorality; a believer should know how to control and manage his or her body:
3 FOR THIS IS THE WILL OF GOD, YOUR SANCTIFICATION: THAT YOU SHOULD ABSTAIN FROM SEXUAL IMMORALITY; 4 THAT EACH OF YOU SHOULD KNOW HOW TO POSSESS [control, manage] HIS OWN VESSEL IN SANCTIFICATION AND HONOUR, 5 NOT IN PASSION OF LUST, LIKE THE GENTILES WHO DO NOT KNOW GOD; 6 THAT NO ONE SHOULD TAKE ADVANTAGE OF AND DEFRAUD HIS BROTHER IN THIS MATTER, BECAUSE THE LORD IS THE AVENGER OF ALL SUCH, AS WE ALSO FOREWARNED YOU AND TESTIFIED. 7 FOR GOD DID NOT CALL US TO UNCLEANNESS, BUT IN HOLINESS" (1 Thessalonians 4:3-7 NKJV).
There are things pointed out in the above Bible passage which should be noted by every believer:
a. Sanctification is God's will (v.3).
b. Believers should abstain from sexual immorality (v.3).
c. Believers should be able to possess their bodies in sanctification [purity or holiness] and honour (v.4).
d. Believers should avoid lustful passion or appetite, and should not be like the unbelievers, the gentiles, who do not know God (v.5).
e. A believer should not defraud a fellow believer, in having affairs with their spouses. That God detests such, and avenges, If It was done (v.6).
f. God did not call believers to uncleanness but holiness (v.7). ALSO READ: 1 Peter 1:15,16
Any number of believers; lay members and ministers are into the things highlighted above. In today's church, we have heard and seen pastors sleeping with their members, both married and unmarried, a choir master sleeping with members of choirs, we have even heard of a pastor's wife befriending or having illicit affairs with a church member, the people she supposed to be a mother to. The Bible however says God avenges, and whoever is involved in these dirty things will be judged by Him. Believers are to possess their bodies in sanctification or purity or holiness—set their bodies apart for God.
Peace.
