IN IT THERE IS NO BREATH AT ALL
"WOE TO HIM WHO SAYS TO WOOD, ‘AWAKE!’ TO SILENT STONE, ‘ARISE! IT SHALL TEACH!’ Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, YET IN IT THERE IS NO BREATH AT ALL."
Habakkuk 2:19 (NKJV)
Comment: In this passage we could see the nothingness of carved images, Idols.
A woe was pronounced on him, whoever deified carved images; wood and stone. Whoever tells wood to be awake, and to the silent stone, Arise, and It should teach! Though, the wood or the stone might be overlaid with gold and silver, yet in it there is no breath at all (Habakkuk 2:19).
Nothing and no one should be worshipped apart from the God of heaven. And God could only be accessed and acceptably worshipped through faith in Christ Jesus. He is the only access through which humans can get to God (John 14:6; Acts 4:12).
If the Israelites missed it, they worshipped carved images which they deified, but many are still doing that same thing today—through modern Idolatry. The time of ignorance God has overlooked, He therefore is calling all humans to repentance and be reconciled to Him (Acts 17:29-31; 2 Corinthians 5:18,19).
Many things are deified—take as an object of worship—in the world that has not the Spirit of God at all. The devil is a counterfeiter, and he impersonates: "AND NO WONDER! FOR SATAN HIMSELF TRANSFORMS HIMSELF INTO AN ANGEL OF LIGHT" (2 Corinthians 11:14 NKJV). The carved images or idols being worshipped by many have demons attached to them that pretended or impersonated themselves as the Holy Spirit of God.
The demons are the emissaries of the devil. They are to deceive people and mislead those who would yield to their lies and deceptions (Ephesians 6:11). Thus, those who sacrifice to idols sacrifice to demons, not to the God of heaven:
19 WHAT AM I SAYING THEN? THAT AN IDOL IS ANYTHING, OR WHAT IS OFFERED TO IDOLS IS ANYTHING? 20 RATHER, THAT THE THINGS WHICH THE GENTILES [unbelievers] SACRIFICE THEY SACRIFICE TO DEMONS AND NOT TO GOD, AND I DO NOT WANT YOU TO HAVE FELLOWSHIP WITH DEMONS. 21 YOU CANNOT DRINK THE CUP OF THE LORD AND THE CUP OF DEMONS; YOU CANNOT PARTAKE OF THE LORD'S TABLE AND OF THE TABLE OF DEMONS" (1 Corinthians 10:19-21 NKJV).
In fact, no sacrifice is accepted by God any longer, since the time of Jesus' death and resurrection (Hebrews 9:28). There is no other sacrifice that is required by God after the one made by Jesus Christ with His own blood—life. Whoever is sacrificing any animal, such is sacrificing to demons (1 Corinthians 10:20).
In many religions of the world, they still require their followers or worshipers to sacrifice animals, but such sacrifices are not to the God of heaven. This is the reason why believers in Christ Jesus should not sentimentally eat the food or meat of such sacrifices (1 Corinthians 10:14,20). When a believer does that, such is having fellowship with demons, and you cannot partake of the Lord's table and that of demons' (1 Corinthians 10:20,21).
Some who are born-again, who had Muslim background, ignorantly eat the meat and food of Muslim festivals that is given to them by their relatives or extended family members; but a serious minded believer who knows what he or she is doing would not do that. When you do it, you are partaking of demons' table and fellowshipping with them—since the food or meat was offered to demons.
The devil has nothing good to offer anyone (John 10:10). The demons are liars like their master, the devil or satan, who is the father of lie (John 8:44).
The Scripture says; Woe—great suffering, sorrow, grief, or misery—to whoever worship carved images, or other alluring things of the world that are deified.
Peace.
