A SPECTACLE TO THE WORLD

9 FOR I THINK THAT GOD HAS DISPLAYED US, the apostles, last, as men condemned to death; FOR WE HAVE BEEN MADE A SPECTACLE TO THE WORLD, both to angels and to men.
13 BEING DEFAMED, we entreat. We have been made as the filth of the world, THE OFFSCOURING OF ALL THINGS UNTIL NOW."
1 Corinthians 4:13 (NKJV)

Comment: From verse 9 to 13 of this 1 Corinthians 14, Apostle Paul talked about the challenges they, he and his team members, had faced—what they had gone through.
A leader should be able to sacrifice because of his or her vision. Such should be able to endure sufferings, persecutions, and different challenges of life: "THAT'S WHY I TAKE PLEASURE IN MY WEAKNESSES, AND IN THE INSULTS, HARDSHIPS, PERSECUTIONS, AND TROUBLES THAT I SUFFER FOR CHRIST. FOR WHEN I AM WEAK, THEN I AM STRONG" (2 Corinthians 12:10 NLT). READ: 2 Timothy 2:3

Being a believer, much more a minister, is not a funfair or carnival, It is a serious matter. This is the reason why Jesus Christ was unequivocal, lucid and plain, about it; when it comes to whoever wants to be his disciple (Luke 14:26,27).
The word Christian is generalized now, but being a disciple, a learner, a pupil, or a follower of Jesus Christ's teaching and lifestyle; you would have to count the cost (Matthew 10:38; 16:24; Luke 9:23; 14:24-33). Jesus did not tell the people who wanted to be His disciples sweet words that they might follow Him, rather, He wanted them to know what they are signing up or subscribing for and know the significance and implication of the decision they are making.

Now people are being cajoled or sweet-talked to accept Christ Jesus and be His disciple. It not done that way; this is the reason we have a lot of professed believers who cannot stand the challenges of life, because they do not know the importance of their commitments and the implications of their disobedience or unfaithfulness. They do not have the understanding of spiritual things, they are too carnal because they are not taught (Romans 8:6,7; 1 Corinthians 3:1). They were like forced or bribed into the Christian Faith—they do not know what they are doing.
Albeit, as for you, be willing to pay whatever price needed to be paid for your faith and the fulfilment of your assignment or ministry: "AND SAY TO ARCHIPPUS, “TAKE HEED TO THE MINISTRY WHICH YOU HAVE RECEIVED IN THE LORD, THAT YOU MAY FULFILL IT" (Colossians 4:17 NKJV).
Peace.
