Philip was one of the seven deacons chosen by the church at Jerusalem (Acts 6:2-5). His life is an example of someone called to be an evangelist. The apostles heard of his work and sent Peter and John to come and help him (Acts 8:5-14). Philips moved from place to place preaching with power. He was the first to preach to the Gentiles in Samaria. The eunuch of Ethiopia was converted on the way to Gaza through him (Acts 8:26-39) and he preached also in Azotus through all the cities to Caesarea (Acts 8:40). He had a good understanding of the word (Acts 8:35). He accomodated Apostle Paul about nineteen years later at Caesarea (Acts 21:8). His ministry was confirmed with signs and wonders (Acts 8:13).
