There is No Holy Spirit's Presence in You if You Don't Repent.

이 시대의 우리네 교회에서 회개라는 단어는 듣기조차 어려운 일이다.
The word 'repentance' has become hard to catch in church these days.

그도 그럴 것이, 1분짜리 영접기도를 마치고 주일성수를 하면 구원을 기정사실화하고 있기 때문이다.
It is probably because people are taught that they already received salvation and have their seats saved in Heaven, if they accepted Jesus Christ and attend church regularly.

회개는 하나님 앞에 자신의 죄를 철저하게 고백하고 용서를 구하는 일이다.
Repentance is an act of expressing sincere regret or remorse about one's wrongdoing or sin and asking for forgiveness.

하나님은 죄를 미워하시고 죄인을 가까이 하실 수 없는 분이시다.
God despises sins. And he doesn't let any sinners near him.

그래서 죄를 날마다 씻는 회개의 기도를 습관화하지 않는다면 하나님을 만날 수도 없고 성령과 동행하는 일은 꿈도 꿀 수 없다.
Therefore, you cannot meet God unless you pray and repent your sins in front of him. You must do it daily.

그러나 우리네 교회에서 회개의 가르침은 보기 힘들다.
But churches today don't teach this.

설교단상에서는 위로와 격려, 안심과 덕담 그리고 축복을 부도수표처럼 남발하고 있기 때문에, 죄를 지적하고 회개하는 투의 서슬이 퍼런 말을 섞을 수 없다.
A lot of times, what we hear from the pastors is comfort and blessing (and see how easily they say those things!) and no one really mentinos the importance of repentance.

또한 교인들도 자신의 죄를 낱낱이 고백하고 회개하는 게 싫기 때문에, 회개를 촉구하는 목회자가 있다면 어떻게든 쫓아내기 일쑤이다.
And Christians don't like to admit their wrongdoings, either, so they don't like to listen to chastisements from pastors.

그래서 우리네 교회에서 회개라는 말을 듣기 어렵다.
So it is hard to hear about repenting in churches today.

그래서 무슨 일이 일어났는가?
So what has happened?

하나님이 우리네 교회를 떠나셨다.
God left our churches.

그래서 관념적이고 사변적인 교리가 판 치고, 형식적인 예배의식과 희생적인 신앙행위를 뒷받침하는 이성적이고 합리적인 기복신앙이 우리네 교회를 지배하고 있다.
And because of God's absence, churches are full of beliefs and theories that are solely based on our humanistic justification.

하나님은 기적과 이적으로 자신의 존재감을 드러내시는 분이시다.
God reveals himself through miracles and wonders.

성경을 보라. 첫 장부터 마지막 장까지 기적과 이적으로 도배하고 있지 않은가?
Read the Bible. It talks about wonders and marvels we cannot fathom from the beginning to the end, isn't it?

그러나 우리네 교회에 기적이 사라진지 오래되었어도, 이를 외면하거나 덮어두고 잠만 쿨쿨 자고 있으니 기이한 일이다.
But people are totally comfortable with the fact that these miracles have been long gone in our lives and our churches. Strange, right?/

그래서 오늘은 회개가 사라진 우리네 교회가 얼마나 위태로운 처지에 있는지 찬찬히 곱씹어보고 싶다.
So I would like to discuss about how much our churches are in danger, since repenting is not something people consider important.

이 때부터 예수께서 비로소 전파하여 이르시되 회개하라 천국이 가까이 왔느니라 하시더라(마4:17)
From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”(Matthew 4: 17)

그 때에 세례 요한이 이르러 유대 광야에서 전파하여 말하되 회개하라 천국이 가까이 왔느니라 하였으니(마3:1,2)
In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” (Matthew 3: 1-2)

공교롭게도 예수님과 세례요한의 사역의 첫마디는 똑같은 말로 시작되고 있다. ‘회개하라, 천국이 가까웠느니라’이다.
Jesus and John The Baptist's word for their ministry surprisingly starts with the same topic: "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near."

회개의 대상은 누구인가? 죄를 밥 먹듯이 짓고 있으면서도, 죄를 깨닫지도 못하고 회개할 생각도 없는 하나님의 백성일 것이다.
Who are the subject of repentance? Probably us humans who don't mind sinning. We don't even realize we're sinning.

그래서 죄에 깊이 빠져 있는 이스라엘 백성들을 향한 첫마디가 바로 회개의 촉구였다.
So the first command of Jesus and John The Baptist to Israelites were to repent their sins.

그래서 많은 사람들이 예수님께 찾아와서 귀신이 쫓겨나가고 고질병이 치유하는 것을 보고, 이분이 하나님의 아들이자 그리스도인 것을 깨닫고 회개의 역사가 일어나기 시작한다. 세례요한을 찾아온 이들도 마찬가지이다.
People witnessed Jesus working miracles with people with demons and sicknesses and realized he was true son of God. They started repenting what they have done, and amazing things happened to them. It was the same for the people who came to John The Baptist.

세례요한은 백성들의 죄악을 낱낱이 들추어내면서 회개를 촉구하며 세례를 주었다.
John The Baptist listed people's sins in details, so that they would repent. Then he baptised them.

이들의 사역으로 인해 어두움이 서서히 걷히고 빛의 나라가 드러나고 있음은 말할 나위가 없다.
With their ministries, they brought light unto the world filled with darkness.

그들이 이 말을 듣고 마음에 찔려 베드로와 다른 사도들에게 물어 이르되 형제들아 우리가 어찌할꼬 하거늘 베드로가 이르되 너희가 회개하여 각각 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 세례를 받고 죄 사함을 받으라 그리하면 성령의 선물을 받으리니 이 약속은 너희와 너희 자녀와 모든 먼 데 사람 곧 주 우리 하나님이 얼마든지 부르시는 자들에게 하신 것이라 하고 또 여러 말로 확증하며 권하여 이르되 너희가 이 패역한 세대에서 구원을 받으라 하니 그 말을 받은 사람들은 세례를 받으매 이 날에 신도의 수가 삼천이나 더하더라(행2:37~41)
When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. (Acts 2: 37-41)

위의 말씀은 베드로가 하나님의 아들을 죽인 이들의 죄를 낱낱이 들추어내자 이스라엘 백성들이 보인 반응이다.
This is reaction of people of Israel, when Peter told them about their sins in detail.

그러자 베드로는 그들에게 회개를 촉구하면서 죄의 용서함을 받으라고 권면하고 있다.
Then Peter told them to repent and ask for God's forgiveness.

그러자 그들이 철저하게 회개함으로서 그 증거로 성령의 능력이 나타나고, 하나님께서 양들을 보내주셔서 초대교회의 교인의 수가 놀랍게 부흥하고 있다.
They did what they were told, and as the result, they received salvation and the gift of the Holy Spirit within them. God also enlarged the church in numbers.

성령이 내게 명하사 아무 의심 말고 함께 가라 하시매 이 여섯 형제도 나와 함께 가서 그 사람의 집에 들어가니 그가 우리에게 말하기를 천사가 내 집에 서서 말하되 네가 사람을 욥바에 보내어 베드로라 하는 시몬을 청하라 그가 너와 네 온 집이 구원 받을 말씀을 네게 이르리라 함을 보았다 하거늘 내가 말을 시작할 때에 성령이 그들에게 임하시기를 처음 우리에게 하신 것과 같이 하는지라 내가 주의 말씀에 요한은 물로 세례를 베풀었으나 너희는 성령으로 세례를 받으리라 하신 것이 생각났노라 그런즉 하나님이 우리가 주 예수 그리스도를 믿을 때에 주신 것과 같은 선물을 그들에게도 주셨으니 내가 누구이기에 하나님을 능히 막겠느냐 하더라 그들이 이 말을 듣고 잠잠하여 하나님께 영광을 돌려 이르되 그러면 하나님께서 이방인에게도 생명 얻는 회개를 주셨도다 하니라(행11:12~18)
The Spirit told me to have no hesitation about going with them. These six brothers also went with me, and we entered the man’s house. He told us how he had seen an angel appear in his house and say, ‘Send to Joppa for Simon who is called Peter. He will bring you a message through which you and all your household will be saved.’“As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning. Then I remembered what the Lord had said: ‘John baptized withwater, but you will be baptized withthe Holy Spirit.’So if God gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?” When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, “So then, even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life.” (Acts 11: 12-18)

위의 말씀은 베드로가 이방인들과 교제하고 식사를 하였다는 소식을 들은 유대인 기독교인들이 책망한 데 대한 베드로의 대답이다.
This passage is Peter's answer to the Jews, when they rebuked him for having fellowship and eating with Gentiles.

당시 유대인들은 이방인과의 접촉이나 교제가 철저하게 금지되어 있었다.
Back then, Jews were not allowed to be in any contact with Gentiles.

그러자 이 유대인들은 이방인들에게도 자신들과 똑같은 성령의 역사가 일어났다는 말을 듣고, 그들에게도 회개를 주셨다고 대답하는 것이 기이하다.
When they heard the Gentiles also had the Holy Spirit come to them, they had no objection, saying, "Even to Gentiles God has granted repentance."

이들은 성령의 역사는 철저한 회개 뒤에 일어나는 사건이라는 것을 잘 알고 있었기 때문이다.
They must have known that the Holy Spirit doesn't come unless people repent their sins.

그래서 우리네 교회는 회개를 철저하게 촉구하라는 가르침이 있는가?
Do churches today teach people to strictly repent for what they've done wrong?

1분짜리 영접기도를 하면 성령이 자동적으로 들어오신다는 거짓교리를 가르치는 데, 어떻게 철저한 회개를 촉구할 수 있겠는가?
How can they, when they teach false teachings and say they will gain eternal salvation just by verbally accepting Jesus Christ?

그리고는 사도행전의 성령의 역사는 AD 1세기에 끝났다는 신학자들의 주장 뒤에 숨어서 자신의 무능과 무기력을 감추고 있다.
And some theologians even hide behind a theory claims the miracles of the Holy Spirit has ended by 1st century AD.

그래서 철저한 죄의 회개가 없는 사람들에게 성령이 역사하실 턱이 없다.
The Holy Spirit won't come to people without them repenting.

모든 사람이 죄를 범하였으매 하나님의 영광에 이르지 못하더니(롬3:23)
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3: 23)

그러면 어떠하냐 우리는 나으냐 결코 아니라 유대인이나 헬라인이나 다 죄 아래에 있다고 우리가 이미 선언하였느니라 기록된 바 의인은 없나니 하나도 없으며 깨닫는 자도 없고 하나님을 찾는 자도 없고 다 치우쳐 함께 무익하게 되고 선을 행하는 자는 없나니 하나도 없도다 그들의 목구멍은 열린 무덤이요 그 혀로는 속임을 일삼으며 그 입술에는 독사의 독이 있고 그 입에는 저주와 악독이 가득하고 그 발은 피 흘리는 데 빠른지라 파멸과 고생이 그 길에 있어 평강의 길을 알지 못하였고 그들의 눈 앞에 하나님을 두려워함이 없느니라 함과 같으니라(롬3:9~18)
What shall we conclude then? Do we have any advantage? Not at all! For we have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin. 10 As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; 11 there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. 12 All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.” 13 “Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit.”“The poison of vipers is on their lips.” 14 “Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.” 15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood; 16 ruin and misery mark their ways, 17 and the way of peace they do not know.” 18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.” (Romans 3: 9-18)

성경은 모든 사람들이 예외 없이 죄인이라고 선포하고 있다.
The Bible claims that all people, no exception whatsoever, are sinners.

죄란 하나님이 싫어하는 모든 생각과 성품, 말과 행위를 총망라하는 말이다.
Sin is anything and everything God hates, including our thoughts, words, actions, and even our characters.

그러므로 태어날 때부터 죄를 좋아하고 죄를 추구하는 죄성을 지닌 사람들은 죄의 덫에 걸려들 수밖에 없다.
So us people, who are sinners from birth, are prone to sin, thanks to our chararter to like and follow sins.

그래서 예수그리스도께서 십자가에서 보혈을 흘려주시므로 하나님과 화목할 수 있는 길을 열어주셨고 천국백성이 되는 기회를 주셨다.
And that is why Jesus came to this world and sacrificed himself on the cross, giving us a chance to make peace with God and to become people of his kingdom.

할렐루야! 그렇다면 날마다 회개하고 죄를 씻어야하는 기도의 습관을 들여야 하지 않겠는가?
Hallelujah! Then shouldn't we all repent and wash our sins away with prayer everyday?

그러나 우리네 교회는 단 한 번의 영접기도로 과거의 죄와 현재의 죄, 그리고 미래의 죄까지 용서함을 받았다는 거짓교리를 지어내고 성경을 비틀어서 가르치고 있다.
But churches today teach Christians that their sins of past, present, and future are forgiven just by accepting Jesus Christ once.

어쨌든 당신의 영혼과 삶에 성령의 역사가 일어나지 않는 이유가 바로 철저한 회개를 잃어버렸기 때문이다.
And that is reason why you don't have the Holy Spirit coming into your life; you don't repent.

그러므로 마음을 돌이켜서 자신의 잘못을 철저하게 자복하고 회개하지 않는다면, 천국에서 당신의 얼굴을 보는 일이 결코 없을 것이다.
It is clear that you won't be seen in Heaven, unless you desperately confess and repent your sins.
