How Are You Going to Pray Continually?

오늘은 '어떻게 쉬지 않는 기도의 삶을 살 것인가?'라는 제목으로 같이 한번 생각해보는 시간을 갖도록 하겠습니다.
I would like to talk to you today about how to live a life of prayer, and how not to stop praying.

성경을 조금이라도 읽어본 크리스천이라면 쉬지 않고 기도하는 것이 우리를 향한 하나님의 뜻이라는 이 것을 모르는 이는 없을 것입니다.
I am pretty sure you know that it is God's will for us to pray constantly, if you have read Bible.

예수님은 종말이 가까울수록 깨어서 항상 기도하라고 하셨으며, 사무엘 선지자는 기도를 쉬는 것이 죄라고까지 말할 정도입니다.
Jesus commanded us to stay awake and pray, as the end comes near. Prophet Samuel stated it is a sin to pause from praying.

그러므로 쉬지 않고 기도하지 않는다면, 하나님의 뜻을 경멸하는 악한 죄를 짓고 있는 셈이죠.
Therefore, we are continually sinning against God's will, if we don't pray constantly.

그렇다면, 이런 사람들이 천국에 들어갈 수 있으며, 이 땅에서 하나님의 축복을 누리며 살 수 있겠습니까?
Then, how can we even think about goint to Heaven, let alone living a successful life in this world?

예수님의 말씀에 의하면 세상이 사라질지라도, 자신의 말은 하나도 떨어지지 않을 것이라고 단호하게 말씀하셨습니다.
Jesus said that his words will remain forever, even if this world disappears.

그렇다면 쉬지 않고 기도하는 사람들은 죄다 지옥의 불길에 던져질 거라는 뜻이죠.
That means that people who don't pray all the time will be thrown into fires of Hell.

예수님께서 이렇게 두렵고 떨리는 말씀으로 우리에게 말씀하셨는데 우리네 교회에서는 쉬지 않고 기도하는 것에 전혀 관심이 없습니다.
It is a scary thing Jesus has said, but no one is really interested in praying as we're told.

새벽기도에 참석해서 1, 20분정도 기도하는 것도 가슴에 빛나는 훈장으로 삼고있는 이들이 허다하죠.
People attend morning prayer meetings, spend about 20 minutes there, and they consider that something to boast to others.

예수님의 말씀이 그대로 집행된다면 우리네 교인중에서 천국에 들어가는 사람들은 극소수에 불과하지 않겠습니까?
If Jesus executes what he has said, I don't know how many people will make it to Heaven.

그러나 이런 저의 주장에 귀를 기울이는 사람은 별로 없을 것입니다.
I don't even know if people will hear me out at all.

어쩄던, 성경이 하나님의 말씀이라고 철썩같이 믿고 있는 크리스천들이 이렇게 예수님의 말씀을 무시하고 멸시하는지 이해하기 어렵죠.
Anyway, it is strange to see Christians not listening to what Jesus has said, although they do acknowledge that the Bible is the word of God.

참으로 기이한 일입니다.
Very strange.

그러나 개중에는 저의 주장을 진지하게 받아들이는 이들도 전혀 없는 게 아닙니다.
I hope someone will listen to what I say.

그래서 제가 하루도 거르지 않고 인터넷 카페에 칼럼을 쓰는 이유이기도 하죠.
And that's why I write a column or two everyday on my site.

왜 우리네 교인들이 쉬지 않는 기도를 하려는 엄두조차 내지 않는 이유는 무엇일까요?
What is the reason people don't even think about praying constantly.

그 이유는 사람이 할 수 없는 도저히 불가능한 일이라고 생각하기 때문입니다.
It is probably because they think it is just impossible to pray like that.

그래서 이런 기도를 시작하고 싶은 생각조차 없죠.
So they don't want to even try.

그렇다면 하나님께서 자신이 사랑하는 자녀에게 불가능한 것을 명령하셨겠습니까?
Would God have commanded his beloved children to do something impossible?

사람들이 믿음이 없기에 시도할 엄두조차 내지 않는 것입니다.
They don't do it because they have no faith.

저도 15년 전에 이러한 성경말씀을 읽으면서 고민이 전혀 없지는 않았습니다.
I, myself, had problems 15 years ago and I still read the Bible.

저도 이런 말씀이 성경에 기록되어 있다는 것을 잘 알고 있었죠.
I knew these commands and words were in it.

그러나 교회에선 아무도 이 말씀의 중요성을 말해주지 않았기에 소 닭보듯 신앙생활을 해왔습니다.
But I did not really care for them, since the church didn't teach anything like that.

그러나 제가 인생 실패를 뼈저리게 겪고 고통스런 삶에서 허우적 거리면서 하나님께 딱 한번만이라도 기회를 다시 달라고 간구하고 하나님을 만나려고 성경을 이 잡듯이 뒤졌을 때 다시 저의 눈에 마주친 (들어온) 구절이 쉬지 않고 기도하라는 명령이였습니다.
But those were the words I found, when I was desperately searching for God's answers, as I prayed for another chance to meet God; pray non-stop.

그 때에도 절망스런 생각이 들었지만 어차피 지금의 삶도 지옥과 다름이 없는데 무엇을 못할까보냐 하는 절박한 심정으로 시도했습니다.
I was desperate and had nothing to lose. So I started to pray just like the Bible said.

그 후에 적지않은 시행착오를 겪기도 했지만 몇년이 흐른 후에 쉬지않는 기도의 습관을 들여서 기도의 삶을 살고있죠.
Of course, I made numerous mistakes, but I succeeded in making a habit out of praying. And I still live by this habit.

그 동안 수많은 기적과 이적을 체험하면서 성령의 명령으로 지금은 충주에 영성학교를 열고 성령이 내주하는 기도 훈련까지 하는 사역을 하고 있습니다.
And I became a pastor, opening CSA and teaching others to properly pray, after all the miracles I've experienced.

제 강의를 듣고 있는 여러분은 어떻게 제가 쉬지않는 기도의 습관을 들였는지 궁금하실 것입니다.
You would be curious how I was able to learn to pray incessantly.

솔직히 말해서, 쉬지않는 기도의 습관을 들이는 특별한 비결은 없습니다.
Honestly speaking, there is no secret tip to master the art of praying.

그냥 쉬지 않고 기도하는 것이죠.
You literally need to pray all the time.

가장 먼저 아침과 밤, 방해받지 않는 시간에 오랫동안 기도하는 습관을 들여야합니다.
You need to learn to pray for a long period of time in the morning and at night, when no one is there to bother you.

한번 기도할 때 한시간 이상하려고 목표를 세워야합니다.
You must try to pray for over an hour once you start praying.

처음엔 어렵고 힘들겠지만 아침과 밤에 집에서 기도하는 습관을 들이지 않으면 쉬지않고 기도하는 습관은 꿈도 꾸지 마십시오.
It is hard to do, of course, but that is the beginning of everything. So don't even think about skipping this step.

말하자면, 쉬지 않는 기도는 사람의 노력이나 의지로 하는 것이 아닙니다.
Continual prayer is not something that can be done with human will or endeavor.

하나님이 주시는 능력으로, 하나님이 주시는 힘으로 하는 것이죠.
You do it by the power God give you.

그래서 하나님이 힘을 주실 때까지 애쓰고 힘써서 기도하는 습관을 들이는 것이 아주 중요합니다.
So you need to pray and pray until God gives you the power you need.

예수님은 집도 없이 광야를 떠돌아다니면서 틈만 나면 한적한 곳을 찾아 기도하는 습관을 들인 것을 눈여겨 보세요.
Jesus roamed the desert and found place and prayed whenever he could.

하나님이신 예수님도 사람의 육체를 가지셨을 때에는 육체의 한계를 극복하기 위해 기도하는 습관을 들이셨습니다.
Even Jesus, son of God, had to train himself to do so when he was in the human form.

그러므로 우리도 예외없이 틈만 나면 기도의 습관을 들여야합니다.
We are no exeption; we need to do the same.

쉬지 않고 기도하는 것은 하루에 몇시간 기도하는 것이 중요하지 않습니다.
How many hours you pray each day is not important.

물론 아침과 밤에 각각 한시간 이상 기도해야 하고, 낮에도 혼자 있는 시간이면 하나님을 부르는 기도를 하여야하기에 하루에 대락 평균 2시간 이상 기도하게 될 것입니다.
Of course, it will come to more than 2 hours, since you pray for an hour in the morning and at night.

그러나 직업이나 신분에 따라 기도시간이 천차만별일 것입니다.
And the time you spend for your prayers will vary depending on what you do for living.

전업주부나 은퇴자들은 비교적 여유시간이 많이 나지만, 직장인이나 자영업자들은 한가한 시간이 별로 나지 않을 것입니다.
People who work at home or have retired have more time relatively, but people who work on-site or have their own businesses will not have much time for themselves.

그러나 아침과 밤에 한시간이상 기도하는 것을 타협해서는 안됩니다.
But you must not compromise your time to pray in the morning and at night.

그렇다면 고수입을 얻는 직장인들이나 자영업자들은 많은 돈을 버는 것을 포기해야될 지도 모르죠.
That might mean you need to give up jobs that pay you large amount of salary.

그렇습니다.
Yes, that's correct.

예수님은 최소한의 생계비에 해당하는 일용한 양식만을 요청하라고 하셨고, 생존의 문제로 걱정과 염려를 하지 말라고 하셨으며 오직 하나님의 나라와 의를 구하라고 하셨습니다.
Jesus commanded people to work for the least amount possible, just for your basic living cost. He also commanded us not to worry about your living but ask for God's will.

그렇게 아침과 밤에 한시간 이상 기도할 수 있도록 결심하고 실행에 옮겨야합니다.
So you must commit yourself to pray an hour every morning and night.

그러나 낮에는 혼자 있는 시간이 날 때마다 하나님을 부르는 기도를 해야합니다.
During the day, you need to seek God whenever you find a chance.

잠시 쉬거나, 혹은 산책을 하거나, 누군가를 기다리거나 대중교통을 이용하는 시간들이 바로 혼자있는 시간이곘죠.
When you take a break, go for a walk, wait for someone, or commute -- these are the times when you are alone.

이럴 때는 항상 마음 속으로 하나님을 부르고 성령의 내주를 요청하는 그러한 기도의 습관을 들이십시오.
In times like these, call out to God and ask the Holy Spirit to come to you. Make a habit out of this.

하나님은 몇시간 기도한 것을 초시계로 재시는 분이 아니라 여러분의 마음이 어디에 있는지를 붗꽃같은 눈으로 지켜보고 계시는 분이십니다.
God doesn't measure the time when you pray; he sees where your heart is at.

그러므로 혼자 있는 시간에 하나님을 찾고있는지의 그 여부를 보고 계시죠.
So he sees whenther you seek out for him when you are by yourself or not.

쉬지 않고 기도하는 습관의 비결은 별 다른 게 없습니다.
There really is nothing special about praying constantly.

아침과 밤에 정해진 시간에 기도하고, 낮에도 틈만 나면 단순무식하게 기도하는 것입니다.
You must pray day and night, at certain time and amount, and call out to God whenever you have time. It's as simple as that.

말하자면 기도하면서 하루를 보내는 것과 같죠.
That means you need to spend the day just praying.

아침에 일어나자마자 기도하고, 기도하다가 출근하고, 기도하다가 일하고, 기도하다가 점심을 먹고, 기도하다가 퇴근하고, 기도하다가 저녁을 먹고, 기도한 후에 잠자리에 드는 습관을 들이는 것입니다.
Get up in the morning and pray, go to work, pray while you're working, pray while you eat, pray when you leave work, pray and have dinner, and pray before you go to sleep. And make a habit of it.

이렇게 기도하는 습관을 들이려면 삶의 우선순위를 기도에 두어야하겠죠.
Praying will be the first priority before anything you do.

이런 사람들은 친구들과 만나 한가한 수다를 떨며 할일없이 쇼핑몰을 돌아다니거나 혹은 심심해하는 친구들을 불러내며 TV나 영화, 인터넷 게임을 할 그럴 시간이 없을 것입니다.
People who pray non-stop don't have time to roam around shopping malls with their friends or time to watch TV or any other worldly activities.

그러면 무슨 재미로 사냐고 묻고 싶을 것입니다.
"Where is the fun in that?" You might ask.

기도의 사람은 기도하는 재미로 사는 것입니다.
People of prayer find fun in praying.

하나님을 쉬지 않고 부르는 사람은 성령과 동행하는 삶을 살 것이고, 그러므로 기도의 사람이 바로 하나님과 교제하는 하나님의 사람이 되는 것입니다.
People who call out to God will live a life with the Holy Spirit, and they will become the ones with close relationship with God.

그래서 쉬지 않고 기도하는 사람이 성령의 사람이 되어 놀라운 영적능력으로 영혼을 구원하고 하나님의 나라를 확장하는 하나님의 종이 되는 것입니다.
People who constantly pray would become men of the Holy Spirit, humble servants of God that save people's souls and expand God's kingdom.

그러므로 쉬지 않고 기도하는 습관을 들이는 사람만이 자기를 부인하고 자기십자가를 지며 하나님의 뜻에 목숨을 내어놓는 제자의 삶을 살 것입니다.
Therefore, the only people who learn to continually pray would be able to deny themselves, put themselves on the cross, and live their lives as God's disciples, giving their all to the Lord.

그러나 여러분이 쉬지 않는 기도에 관심이 없다면, 하나님의 뜻을 경멸하는 사람이 될 것인데 어떻게 지옥의 형벌을 피할 수 있겠습니까?
How can you dodge the punishment in Hell, if you are disobedient servant that is not interested in praying to your Lord?
