Humility is the quality of being humble and means putting the needs of another person before your own, and thinking of others before yourself. It also means not drawing attention to yourself, and it can mean acknowledging that you are not always right.
Humble people know that God is great. God likes humble people. God likes humble people because they look after other people. A humble person considers that other people are important. A proud person thinks only about himself. When pride come, then come shame; pride, as it is the effect of folly, so it bring a man to contempt and destruction, such persons being commonly hated both by God and by all men.
With the lowly is wisdom; whereby they are kept from those foolish and wicked actions which expose men to shame. Be clothed with humility. Be ye truly humble; and let your outward garb and conduct be a proof of the humility of your hearts.
Why We Must Be Humble
We must be humble because humility keeps one from sinning. One who is humble knows he has fallen in the past in many ways and is capable of any sin. So he relies not on his strength but in the love of God but a proud person will rely on his own efforts and this may lead such a one into sin.
Humility brings unto one blessings. The Bible says "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble". In other words we can say God prepare the path of a humble person but allows the proud to fall into their own doom. Any one who wants to see the grace of God in their must learn to be humble as a kid.
God gives favor to humble. The little the proud has is taken away from him and given to the humble man who has more than enough. There is power in being submissive. The Bible makes us to understand that grace is always for the humble man but the proud is always brought to disgrace.
[James 4:6] ISV : But he gives all the more grace. And so he says, “God opposes the arrogant but gives grace to the humble.
[Proverbs 3:34] ISV : Though God scoffs at scoffers, he gives grace to the humble.

[Psalms 37:11] ISV : The humble will inherit the land; they will take in abundant peace.
