The second coming, assurance of one's salvation.

Christians always take pride in the fact that they have been granted salvation. However, it seems the second coming ( parousia) does not receive similar recognition. When Christians hear about the second coming their heart troubles.
Personally, I feel the two that is salvation and the second coming go hand in hand.
Salvation is saved from eternal condemnation because of sin and this is not possible if there is no second coming of Jesus Christ. We are saved from the Wraft of the Lord when he comes again, this is what salvation means.
Why then do Christians fear when we hear of the second coming?
Does that mean we have lost our salvation? It is imperative we examine our lives each day in line with the word of God to see whether the second coming brings us joy or fear. We must not deceive ourselves but rather be sure of our salvation.
Therefore, the second coming should raise joy in the hearts of Christians as we are in a hurry to meet our saviour away from this world full of troubles, trials and misfortunes.
Maranatha! Lord come.

Sort:

Is time children of God depart from our dark ways and prepare for the second coming

" It is imperative we examine our lives each day in line with the word of God to see whether the second coming brings us joy or fear. We must not deceive ourselves but rather be sure of our salvation."

I love this part. Christians seem to have laid aside the command to examine ourselves. We hastily conclude on everything forgetting that its not the conclusion we make that really matter in itself but its conformity to truth. I believe if we examine ourselves as you rightly said and we sincerely conclude on the truth we will know where we stand and know what to do. Then indeed will the sound of the Second Coming bring joy. We await our Savior... MARANATHA! LORD JESUS COME
