Or: Sabbat Shalom! to my Jewish sisters and brothers. Many will ask which day is the true Sabbath? I have sixty bible facts concerning the Seventh Day and 40 Bible facts concerning the first day of the week. I will gladly email you a copy of this two page document that will give you clarity on the subject. For now I will share these facts: Get your bible so you can follow along. Take a few minutes. It is important that you read it for yourself.
Facts Concerning the Seventh Day:

  1. After working the first six days of the week in creating this earth, the great God rested on the Seventh day. (Gen. 2:1-3).
  2. This stamped that day as God's rest day, or Sabbath day, as Sabbath day means rest day. Therefore the Seventh day must always be God's Sabbath day. Can you change your birthday from the day on which you were born to one on which you were not born? No. Neither can you change God's rest day to a day on which he did not rest. Hence the Seventh day is still God's Sabbath day.
  3. The Creator blessed and sanctified the Seventh day (Gen. 2:3; Exodus 20:11).
  4. The Sabbath is to be kept for a perpetual covenant; it is a sign between God and His people; written in stone with his own finger; thus the Sabbath is the seal, the signet, the sign that those who keep it are God's sheep and they cannot be plucked out of his hand. (Exodus 31:13-18) & (John 10:28).
  5. God has promised to bless all who keep the Sabbath. (Isaiah 56:2)
  6. God will cause those who keep the Sabbath to ride upon the high place of the earth (Isaiah 58:12-14).
  7. God destroyed the Israelites in the wilderness because the profaned the Sabbath (Eze. 20:12,13). (History will repeat).

Facts Concerning the First Day of the Week:

  1. The very first thing recorded in the Bible is work done on Sunday, the first day of the week. (Gen. 1: 1-5). This was done by the Creator Himself. If God made the earth on Sunday, can it be wicked for us to work on Sunday? No!
  2. God Himself calls the first day a working day. (Ezekiel 46:1).
  3. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to the sepulchre on the first day. Jesus kept the Sabbath in death- Friday sundown to Saturday sundown. The two Marys' kept the Sabbath and came to anoint Jesus early on the first day. (Matt: 28:1-6 and John 20:1).
  4. The word Sunday never appears in the bible at all. Paul directed the saints to look over their secular affairs on that day. (1 Cor. 16:2).
  5. The bible nowhere says that the first day of the week commemorates the resurrection of Christ. This is a tradition of men, which contradicts the law of God. (Matt: 15: 1-9). Baptism commemorates the burial and resurrection of Jesus. (Romans 6:3-5).
  6. None of the patriarchs ever kept the first day. None of the holy prophets ever kept the first day. By the express command of God, His holy people used the first day of the week as a common working day for 4,000 years, at least.
God did not rest upon it. He never blessed it. Christ did not rest upon it.
7.Finally, the New Testament is totally silent with regard to any change of the Sabbath or any sacredness for the first day.
