Thoughts for the day - 3/7/18
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
2 Corinthians 3:17
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
2 Corinthians 5:17
Being a Christian is NOT about a list of "don'ts" or trying to be something you simply cannot become. So many of us go through the day trying not to do and not to say and not to feel. And in not achieving this, we are left feeling guilty and depressed. But this is clearly not what Jesus has died for. He died to forgive us our sins, to free us from the wages of our sin and to give us Freedom from this constant guilt and lack of self confidence in our walk.
When you give yourself to Jesus, you give your old self, all of it and the Father gives you a new Spirit, a Spirit of the Lord, you are a new creation! You have been freed! Don't live as slaves to these old temptations and feelings! True repentance, brings true freedom not partial, not purgatory, not probational.
Live your life with a list of Do's -- Do Praise, Do Pray, Do Love, Do Care, Do Give, Do Bless and Do Share His word. Allow the Spirit to fill your day completely and fully and there simply will not be any room left for the don'ts.

These words really do inspire @bycoleman. Life in Jesus means a life of love through the workings of the Holy Spirit. And love will free us from sin, from guilt, from selfishness and from other worldly desires that only lead us to the path towards eternal condemnation.
Send us Your Spirit, Lord, and we shall renew the face of the earth. When you take away our breath, O Lord, we die and return to dust. But when you send forth your Spirit, we live. Forever.

This is a great post.... The word of God is life and whoever believes receives its benefits. You're right we cannot do a thing in our own power - even though the power God gives. 1sam 2:9 he keepeth the feet of his saints for by strength shall no man prevail.

Another enlightening read from yourself, thankyou as always. Links up nicely with Galatians 5:16 'But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.' By wholeheartedly focusing on the 'do's' the 'don'ts' get forced out.

We are brand new in Christ. It reminds me of "The Great Divorce" By C.S. Lewis. There is a scene in there where a guy has a lizard on his shoulder. The spirit is asking if he can kill it.
The two of them go back and forth and, eventually, the lizard is extinguished.
This is a nice visual of how we must kill our old, sinful, nature and become a new creation in Christ. The old is gone, the new has come!

Jesus said we should take his yoke upon us because his yoke is light, and we will find refreshment for our souls... So i we truly are Christ followers, we won't be stabbing ourselves all over with pains with list of does and don't.. "Gods love means that we observe his commandments, and yet his commandments are not burdensome" 1 john 5:3
So if you feeling burdensome serving your God, then better recheck if you are serving the living true God
