I received a question: Revaluation 17:9, Do you know who the Whore of babylon with the Blood of the saints of Jesus is?
Some said the Catholic Church aka the Vatican. I don't fully agree.
I expounded, it is more then that, which may be controversial, but we need to be honest when grappling with the truth.
My response: In context of “MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.” Rev. 17:5. She is not only a harlot herself but the mother of harlots. To answer the question, it is my understanding, that any institution, denomination, sect, or religion (including the Vatican and her daughters-Protestants) who bear the nature of Babylon is the whore. What does this look like? Use wisdom, be not deceived. The abomination is idolatry/serving other gods. Where we have mixture of religion with man king systems enslaving, dominating, and make people into human resources, you can be certain, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS RIDING THE BEAST IS WORKING.
The bottom line, Its an antichrist spirit. The spirit that seduces with benefits, status, position, fleshly pleasure, prestige, and empty promises. Or the spirit that manipulates through threatenings, fear or domination. What is this spirit's objective? To be the substitution for Christ. To be worshiped (to have our fidelity and devotion). Be alert, think on this, if "religious institutions" or the nation state has our allegiance, Patriae Pontifex Maximus (father and chief priest) above Christ the King we need to repent.
In addition, If we put our flesh, ambition, career or religion above the preeminence and centralization of Christ, it too, is idolatry. Repent. There's no condemnation, just be honest and cry out for grace daily to walk circumspectly with Jesus as Lord.

The Whore of Babylon refers to a real physical place. The Bible tells where it is:
(Revelation 17:6-9 NIV) I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of those who bore testimony to Jesus. When I saw her, I was greatly astonished. {7} Then the angel said to me: "Why are you astonished? I will explain to you the mystery of the woman and of the beast she rides, which has the seven heads and ten horns. {8} The beast, which you saw, once was, now is not, and will come up out of the Abyss and go to his destruction. The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the creation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast, because he once was, now is not, and yet will come. {9} "This calls for a mind with wisdom. The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits.
Rome was built on seven hills. The woman riding the Beast is obviously the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church murdered millions of Christians. The Vatican truly is a synagogue of Satan.
Yes, well said, AND that same spirit manifested has crept into every institution of religion. May we see, guard our hearts, and not play the whore. Fidelity to Christ ALONE. "They shall know we are His disciples by our love one for another."
