"The Secret of Rest.." - Daily Word #82

Today we continue on the concept of "REST"... as we turn to Mark 4:37-40 (NIV) for some insights on the story of "Jesus Calms the Storm";

A furious storm came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” Source

Many a times, we give the storms in our life a bigger emphasis -- vs. the BIG GOD in our life! Other times, we may anticipate a time of rest only after the challenges (storms in our life) subsides or passes.

In the Word above, there were several men on a boat, in a storm. But only One was sleeping. Whilst the rest were frantic, fearful and even faithless, the One person knew the secret of Rest.

Are you like the people on the boat or the One sleeping?

Storms will come.

Storms may stay.

Storms may even bring about greater hardships.

The quest is not to fold to what the culture of the land is dictating at you, becoming like everyone else. As believers, we are called to RISE ABOVE the storms.

You can sleep through the storm like Jesus when you understand these key principles.

1. The Secret of Rest is to be at the Right Place and Direction
2. The Secret of Rest is to have a Confident Posture (Jesus was sleeping)
3. The Secret of Rest is to rebuke the Winds distracting your Attention
4. The Secret of Rest is to activate your FAITH over Fear!

The next time you are faced with a difficult circumstance, know that HE is near and you will find comfort, peace, joy and breakthrough in that "REST"
