DON'T WASH YOUR NETS YET

The story of Isaac in Genesis chapter 26 communicates the need to be persistent in life. His father, Abraham had dug some wells which the Philistines blocked after his death(see verse 15) but Isaac dug the wells again. Then in verse 19, Isaac dug another well, but the herdsmen in Gerar won't let him have it. He didn't give up. He dug yet another well in verse 21 and the bible says "they strove for that also". They did not let him have that as well. You know how stressful it must have been digging wells? I mean wells that are several feets deep into the ground. He could have given up and told his servants that they won't be digging anymore. But Oh dear Isaac! He persisted. He didn't give up. See verse 22a.

22 And he moved from there and dug another well, and they did not quarrel over it. So he called its name Rehoboth.

What is your own well that you've been digging that has not been successful so far? Don't give up.

Probably you've written and failed a particular exams several times, or you even passed but the result was useless Or you've been searching for a job for a while now. Maybe you've invested in some businesses and they did not yield as expected. Or you have relationship issues. Whatever you own case is. Are you discouraged and fed up right now? I have a word for you: Don't give up! Go again!

I love this quote by John Mason: "Stick to the fight when you are hardest hit, it is when things seem tough that you must not quit."

Probably you've given up already like Simon Peter when he was fishing at the lake of Gennesaret in Luke's gospel chapter 5. They had worked hard all night without catching any fish. That must have been very frustrating. Verse 2 says they were already washing their nets. You know what that means? They had given up, ready to go home empty handed.

Luke 5:4-7 NKJV
4 When He(Jesus) had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”
5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”
6 And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. 7 So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.

You are almost at your Rehoboth too, just don't quit now. Stay in the fight. Don't throw in the towel. Lift your head high. Go again! Don't wash your nets yet. Launch out into the deep and get ready for a 'net breaking' testimony.
