In the memoirs of Africa’s first female president, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, she writes, “If your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough”.

When our vision and our perception travels beyond the realities surrounding us, we stretch our faith and provoke our God (Heb 11:6), to act according to our faith.

It must have been overwhelming and probably terrifying for Abraham, a childless nomad, when God asked him to lift up his eyes and look all around him. For as far as he could see, so would the inheritance of his seed after him be!

If God will do the unbelievable for us, we must first believe that He is well able to do the unbelievable. Very often, our expectations of God are limited by the limits of our own humanness. God’s responses to our needs are thus usually in response to our ability to receive from him.

Several health conditions afflict both children and adults but in treating the same conditions in both children and adults, the children (according to their ages ) are given paediatric doses of the same medications that may be given to adults. As they grow into adulthood, the dosage of these same medications are increased to commensurate with their growth and development. What has changed?
Their bodies have developed and grown and are thus able to contain the higher doses of the drugs.

Imagine God using His ‘big’ hands to fetch blessings for you. You can only receive and carry as much as the size of your hands.

With God’s providence, there are no limitations or restrictions. _In Psalm 81:10, He declares; “I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt; open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it” . Therefore the extent of your ‘filling’, is directly proportional to how wide your mouth is open.

Whatever you will receive from God depends on your capacity to receive. If your expectation from Him is little, He will not provide for you beyond that.

May your dreams and expectations be greater and bigger than your own present circumstances. Build your capacity in order to receive what He has in store for you.

Father, I pray for the grace to acknowledge in all that I think and do that You are bigger and greater than I could ever imagine. Please let my expectations of and from You be built on Your unlimited resources and not my limited capacity. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
