From Bethany to Calvary - #Final Part.
Touching stories like this and more, made rounds in the media that day. At the tribunal, Jesus didn't speak in his own defense to refute all the false charges brought against him. So, he was sentenced to death by hanging on the cross. At this point, he was handed over to a special force team in the military. One of the tribunal judgements also read that Jesus had to carry the cross by himself to the outskirt of the city where he would be executed, bearing a wooden cross weighing over a hundred pounds. That alone was enough torture. Moreso, the soldiers were to weave a circular ring made from barbed wire and wear it on his head like an ornament.

The place where he was to be hanged was popularly called Golgotha. Some call it Calvary. There the sentence was carried out. Jesus was nailed to the cross for loving the people and standing against the hypocrisy of the government of the day.
He once told his team members, "My Father loves me because I freely lay down my life. And so I am free to take it up again. No one takes it from me. I lay it down of my own free will. I have the right to lay it down; I also have the right to take it up again. I received this authority personally from my Father."
He writhed in pain at the slightest movement he made on the cross. In a matter of minutes, the Sun seem to disappear, as the sky became darkened as a result of a solar eclipse.
The soldiers and those who came to witness the execution were wondering about the sudden weather change. Such an occurrence would have been announced by the Meterogical Agency. But no such information was given. "This is strange," a soldier said. "This man must truly be who he claims to be - the son of God," he concluded.
Jesus is love personified. Instead of cursing the government and the soldiers, he prayed for them, asking God to forgive them.
Few hours later, shortly before he breathed his last, he said, "It is finished!" And so is this story.
The work of redemption is complete. The veil that stopped man from personally experiencing God, was torn. Jesus bridged the gap between man and his creator.
If he didn't resurrect, the work wouldn't have finished. Because it was finished, his resurrection brought life unto us.
You too can experience his life today, just ask Jesus.
