WHY THE WORLD LACKS PEACE

International Day of UN Peacekeepers.
Read John. 3:12-21
- If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
- And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
- And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
- That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
- For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
- For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
- He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
- And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
- For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
- But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
MEMORISE: And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil (John. 3:19)
EXPOSITION
This day internationally earmarked to celebrate UN peacekeepers is a good time to see from the perspective of God, why peace has been lacking in the world. May God open our eyes, Amen.
Absence of war, terrorism and other forms of insecurity do not necessarily mean the presence of peace, according to experts opinion. Peace is relative term. In the spiritual perspective, no peace without Christ. This is to say that if God is not somewhere, peace cannot be there! No wonder, there cannot be peace for the wicked (godless, ungodly) ( Isa. 48:22; 57:21). God is our peace (Eph. 2:14), and His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, is The Prince of Peace (Isa. 9:6).
Obviously, this world is devoid of true peace in all spheres: economy, religion, politics and education, just to mention a few. Every nation of the world gets its own share of the turmoil rocking the world, economically, religiously and politically. Bloodshed has become so rampant. Graphics of gruesome murders are no surprises to us any longer ! There is a reason for this, since the world has consistently rejected the Prince of Peace. Himself, (our Lord Jesus Christ), it has no choice than to make do with forgetting about anything that has to do with true peace (cf. Isa. 48:22).
In real sense, if you are not at peace with God (not reconcile to Him), you cannot have the peace of God (Rom. 5:1). The Prince of Peace came to the world, but He was rejected by those of the world (Jn. 1:10). He brought light , but people prefer darkness (Jn. 3:19). He opened His arms, but nobody looked to His merciful side. So, peace, evading our world, is justified (Isa. 59:8)!
You can receive true lasting peace in your life, today, if you reconcile with your Creator, through our Lord Jesus Christ (Isa. 26:3). Then, immediately begin to share the message of Peace (Jesus) with others (Jn. 4:28-30). You can't imagine the blessings that will follow.
PRAYER POINTS:
- O God of Peace, speak Your Peace to the ragging storms in my life, marriage, ministry and career, in Jesus' name.
- Lord, I rededicate my all to You; let Your Peace permeate every aspect of my life.
- O God of Peace, crush the agents of opposition against Your program me and Church and put them under the feet of Your people in the land, according to Your Word (Rom. 16:20).
