DEALING WITH THE SPIRIT OF INSANITY
Ecclesiastes 9:3
"This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead."
There is a spirit whose operation is so subtle but evident in the lives of most people, if not everyone on the surface of the earth. It is the spirit of insanity.
Though it is more pronounced in some than others, but it shows up in every individual's life at one point in time or the other.
It moves a person to say what one ought not to say, or to do what one knows one ought not to do.
It is one thing not to know what one is saying or doing is wrong, and could lead to great repercussion or consequences; but it is another ball game to actually know that something is bad for one to say or do, yet be moved to saying or doing it. That is a manifestation of the spirit of insanity.
Insanity is the condition of being insane, a state of derangement of the mind, craziness, lunacy...or to just hit the nail directly on the head...madness! This is the state of extreme foolishness or senselessness.
In the passage above, there is a powerful revelation. It says that madness is common to all men, so it's not a case of you are an exemption, even if you are anointed of GOD, it doesn't totally remove it...but fervent prayers can remove it.
A prophet of GOD, Balaam, went contrary to what GOD wanted, and we were told that it was as a result of the spirit of insanity, yet nobody saw it that way...
2 Peter 2:16
"But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet."
When I was in school, and someone behaves irrationally...for example, we could be reading in class where everywhere would be silent, and all of a sudden, you could hear someone shouting "A-oh!" for no obvious reason. At that point, someone would just say "5 minutes madness."
I remember a certain time in school when Nigeria's soccer team was playing against another nation. I can't remember the score line, but it was close to the end of the match. People were engrossed in the match, with their gaze at the different televisions and radio they were watching or listening to.
I got up from where I was, took a whistle, like that of the referee, went to the balcony of my room and blew it three consecutive times just like FIFA referee does to end a match (Pooh-pooh-pooh!).
The next thing I heard from the next block to mine was "Aro!" (Aro is a place major Psychiatric hospital is in Nigeria). I laughed.
After I had blown the whistle, I was then wondering why I did it. Though, what was on my mind was to fool as many people as possible wherever they were watching or listening from, to think the whistle came from the t.v or radio to end the game.
One of my roommates said that was creative thinking. Imagine! He was calling madness creative thinking. Though, harmless and mild to a large extent, but madness is madness!
🙏 FATHER, please flush out of my heart and life every form of madness in JESUS' NAME.
In medical field, they call the irrational behaviour of a person due to hearing strange voices, or seeing strange objects, which is hallucination, psychosis.
Someone called me one morning. She told me of how she sometimes hear voices in her head, and see images. She said she had been moved to going to the kitchen to pick a knife to end her life on different occasion. She confirmed what we just said about the medical term for such manifestation or experience...psychosis.
🙏 FATHER, please arrest and eternally imprison any spirit behind the scene of my life and my loved ones, suggesting suicide or abandonment of good people, projects and places for us in JESUS' NAME.
The danger of the so-called 5 minutes of madness is that those few minutes of madness could lead to a lifetime of regrets, because they are the moments when irrational, foolish, or thoughtless things are done...and some of those things may be hard to reverse.
This was what happen to Esau when he exchanged his birthright for a morsel of porridge. You would say "Ah-ah! Was he not thinking?". That is the point we're making here!
In the moments of madness, rational thinking is suspended till the madness subsides, then one would be saying "What the 'heaven' have I done?", "Why did I say that for GOD's sake?", "What led me to doing this?". Answer? ... The spirit of insanity.
Hebrews 12:16-17
"Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. 17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears."
I bumped into the showing of a movie a few years ago at home. There was this guy that loved this girl, but the girl maltreated him in the sense that she did not show any good regard for him. No matter what he did to please her. He would use all his salary to buy her gifts, and sometimes, he would go to his boss for i.o.u before the end of the month. Yet, this girl would shout on him, telling him that what was the big deal about what he was doing.
Sometimes, the guy even cried in the presence of his friends who told him that he must be sick to want to die over a girl.
To cut the long story short, the girl jilted him, and told him never to come looking for her again because one honorable toasted her, and bought a car for her.
Because of this girl, this guy lost his job for being absent from work for sometime, when he was hospitalized. But later, he got another job a far better one, got a car, an apartment, met a finer and better behaved girl whom he married.
At the same time, the real wife of the honorable came from abroad, and that girl was displaced, and was on her own.
That was when she remembered that guy that loved her so much once upon a time, whom she treated anyhow. He had become a big boy. She met him one day in the carpark of a supermarket. She was then toasting him that they should continue from where they stopped. The guy told him that it was too late that he had the real love of his life with him. She regretted the moments of madness she exhibited all her life.
I think when people say it’s the devil that made them to do some things that they did wrong, they should rather say it’s their moment of madness.
🙏 FATHER, please drive out by fire of the HOLY GHOST, every trace of insanity in my blood, family and lineage forever in JESUS' NAME.
The spirit of insanity makes a person to become a danger to himself or/and others if not checked.
That was what happened to the man the scripture called 'mad'. He was hurting himself, and a potential danger to people around him; hence, he was chained, but the chains did no much good because they didn't hold him for too long before he broke out viciously again...
Mark 5:2-7
"And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, 3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: 4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. 5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. 6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshiped him, 7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not."
The spirit of insanity manifests as indecision in people at times. That is why we say it is subtle.
Imagine, the mad man ran to JESUS, then started asking HIM what HE had to do with him. Is that not madness?
How can you say "Yes" today, and you are saying "No" next tomorrow? The spirit of insanity is the spirit of inconsistency. You serve GOD today, and serve the devil tomorrow.
That was why Elijah told the Israelites to go for deliverance indirectly...
1 Kings 18:21
"And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word."
From the story of the mad man we read above, his family and friends went far from him because he could hurt them, or even kill them in his anger.
Some people have fierce anger that is obviously satanic. Or how would you explain someone that turned around to kill the person he or she told the whole would by marrying willingly, that he loved? Is that not madness?
I read about a man called Derek Medina, from Miami, who shot and killed his wife and posted a picture of her dead body on his Facebook page.
The graphic photo showed the woman bent over backwards with her knees bent, her face and arm covered in blood. It was removed from Facebook after several hours. The caption was "Rip Jennifer Alfonso".
In addition to that, he posted an alleged confession saying: "I'm going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife, love you guys, miss you guys, take care Facebook people, you will see me in the news. My wife was pinching me, and I am not going to stand anymore with the abuse, so I did what I did. I hope you understand me." (that was his exact post). What do you have to say about that? Madness abi?
Of course you wouldn't have forgotten the case of the guy that was said to have stabbed the banker wife to death 76 times. This happen on June 24 2011. He later claimed that it was his wife that stabbed herself to death after an argument or quarrel they had, in which she went to the kitchen to take a knife of which she used on him, then herself. But at the end of the day, he was pronounced guilty and sentenced to death by hanging.(Nigeria)
That spirit came upon Peter once upon a time, and he started doing what you would not have expected him to do to JESUS...rebuking him anyhow...
Mark 8:32-33
"And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him. 33 But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men."
What must have come upon Peter that made him to lose sight of who he was rebuking? Was he not thinking? The answer again is capital 'YES!'. The spirit of insanity does not allow its victims to think rationally. Was he not the one that greatly reverenced JESUS sometime?...
Luke 5:8
"When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord."
When a Christian brother or sister that loves GOD, gets into a quarrel leading to a fight in his or her house or neighbourhood; and someone trying to separate them, or trying to keep the brother or sister from fighting says "Pastor nbo! Pastor nbo!!" or "Pastor na bia! Pastor na bia!!" or "Your pastor is coming! Your pastor is coming!!", and the person says "Let pastor come! Nonsense!!". If you are that pastor they are talking about, you better don't go o. Just settle the fight from a distance because that Christian brother or sister has been taken over by the spirit of insanity. (But if the person is not anointed like you, the person can go, the spirit would bow to him or her as it did to JESUS in Mark 5:6 - "But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,", but if the person does not have your kind of anointing, he or she better respect himself or herself, so that the case would not be like the sons of Sceva in Acts 19:15-16 - "And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? 16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded." (just teasing).
But what we're trying to say is that the spirit of insanity had taken over such person who is not thinking rationally again.
That was what JESUS did in the case of Peter...HE took it up spiritually...
Luke 22:31-32
"And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren."
*A lady called me and was telling me about how vicious the husband is whenever he got angry. She said he would destroy anything. He would break glasses, scatter anything in the house, and go physical with anyone.
She said...even you pastor (within me, I was saying "Me ke? Me that I respect myself. Na where they put me I dey stay. I would say "Bros, you try well-well jare", and he would say something like "Na you be the Pastor?". I would say "He be like say na the thing wey dem dey call me be that, but bros, you be 'actor'...and 'Pastor' and 'Actor' resemble. So me and you (actor and pastor), we be friends. What we are trying to say is that the spirit of insanity dey worry that person...
🙏 FATHER, please make it impossible for anyone around me to be possessed with the spirit of insanity against me in JESUS' NAME.
There is a level of anger that a person manifests that is regarded ...
Luke 6:10-11
"And looking round about upon them all, he said untuo the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other. 11 And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus."
What of the case of one 21-year old son of a 60 years old Redeemed pastor, who also was a SAN, that killed his father. He killed his father and cut into pieces, then put him in a box, and dragged the box somewhere to dump. I think the ground marks were used to trace the house where it must have come from where they found the boy in a relaxed mood. Upon interrogation, the boy initially lied that his dad had gone on evangelism, but later confessed to the crime. He said the problem arose when his father confronted him that he was not responding to the prayer points he was calling which made his father to slap him. He said he went "mad" and went straight to pick up a knife to stab him and later a cutlass to cut his throat, thereby killing him.
🙏 FATHER, please deliver me from the spirit of insanity, and all the people that have access to me in any form in JESUS' NAME.
What of a lady, Omaima Nelson, that killed her 6-foot-4 husband, chopped him, cooked him and ate him. Did you say 'madness'? Of course! That is what we are talking about. That is why you have to pray that spirit out of your life, and the lives of your loved ones.

What of a Chinese woman called Li, who happened to be a gynecologist, and a mother of the children of the couple. She asked the husband for divorce, but the husband refused. And while he was suffering from diarrhea, she gave him sleeping pills instead of the appropriate medicine; and while he was sleeping, she removed his testicles with a fruit knife. The husband pleaded with the police to give her leniency because he felt responsible for the tragedy. Are both of them self not suffering from the spirit of insanity?
People do incredibly foolish or negative things because of the spirit of insanity.

🙏 FATHER, please help me, every member of my family and friends to make Heaven gloriously, and with ease in the fullness of our times in JESUS' NAME.

There's no such thing as a spirit of insanity. Asking God to remove your "madness" isn't going to work either. When you look at what Solomon wrote you could easily see "madness" to mean "foolishness".
