Qualities of a Good Follower
Today's reflection is from the book of Acts 16:1-5
Highlight from the text: vs2
"Timothy was well thought of by the believers in Lystra and Iconium"
Paul did not just choose Timothy to mentor but he saw some basic qualities in him. Thus, mentees are not just picked they are to be intentionally chosen to enable proper discipleship and investment for future leadership.
Paul met Timothy in the cause of his ministry. It was not Timothy that came but Paul spotted him at his duty post serving the Lord. Here are three things Paul saw in Timothy:
He was a disciple (v1b). The person to be chosen as a mentee must be a growing disciple, someone that is committed to learning and following the Lord Jesus Christ.
Paul knew Timothy's root and his parents.
He had a testimony amongst the believers (v2). Timothy was well thought of by the believers. He had a testimony in the Church and community. He was not just a disciple at home but also in the Church.
He was willing to let go of personal rights for the gospel. He was a Greek but accepted to be circumcised in order to join Paul. He was willing to take steps that will enable him learn and influence others.
Timothy became very instrumental in handling the church because he had the basic qualities of being a mentee or follower.

Today we memorize the death of Jesus, and the desertion he experienced among men and even God his father.
We as His followers are we still going to desert him or be a good follower to the end. He did the greatest thing for us men. Why not us give him back by being faithful to the end.
Prayer:
Lord, help me be a worthy learner daily and always remember the price you paid for us.
