Well, I guess The Bible is not going on Steemit

This is the first time that this account has broken from posting The Bible since the introduction post.

I will give a little backstory to explain.

I joined Steemit in February and really enjoyed it. I was talking about it at work and one of the temps got really interested, but because of a lot of choices he had made was without most of the tools needed to be on Steemit. (phone, computer, internet)

He was really keen though, so I told him he could use my computer at work and showed him the basics of how it worked, then I bought him an account with my credit card so he could get an account without a phone number. He had recently been reintroduced to Christianity and was told to read The Bible a little at a time so as to not overwhelm himself.

He decided that he would read some each day and post it on Steemit so that others could read at their own pace as well. I advised against this, as I felt it was a waste of time, but he seemed to really want it. He actually spent about an hour a day copying from a PDF and then formatting it so it was easier to read. Every post he would comb pexels or pixabay to find the best picture to go along with the chapter and put it in.

If it wasn't for @rynow, he would have got nothing on a post, but it wasn't bothering him. I upvoted but had 15 SP for a long time, so it didn't help financially.

So this spring he got laid off and asked me to keep posting for him. I did for a bit but didn't have time to format and find pictures, so I just left it as it was from The Bible. I also just kept recycling the photos he had collected. I figured it would keep going until he came back, but then he moved away for work and that was it. That was in April, I think and I just noticed that @steemcleaners had flagged a couple of posts and when I spoke with them, I was told that it was plagiarism and it didn't matter what book it was taken from. I was told that the posts would keep getting flagged and the account would get blacklisted, unless there was original content put in with it.

Now don't get me wrong. I am a big fan of @steemcleaners and if I had have known that being in the public domain didn't matter, I would have never let him open the account. The problem now is that I'm an atheist and in reality would not add anything positive to an account that was meant to uplift believers, so I spoke with a religious friend and might have a solution.

Nothing is for certain though, as everyone is busy, but hopefully, this account can stay somewhat authentic to what it was started for. It has made enough to pay me back what it cost to start it, but nothing for the probably hundred hours he spent on posts. (I only spent about 15 mins/ a day on two posts.)

Anyhow, I will not be posting from this and if anyone does it will be because they took it over from me.

Thank you to @christian-trail for the support you have shown, @rynow for being there from probably day one, and @schroders for your support as well. It really meant a lot to him and hopefully, he is still comforted and reading a bit each day.

Take care.

Just curious, I'm new who is steam cleaners and what right do they have to decide what is plagiarism, from what I've seen there is a lot more plagiarism going on that is much worse than this. Plus, I thought this was designed as a community, I get they may have a lot more voting rights, but still, it doesn't seem right. What if for instance, I hold permissions from Biblica, Inc. to reprint parts of the NIV version of the bible, if a chunk of my post is copywritten material is it going to get flagged.

No, only if it is all copy and pasted from any book. I don't know who gets to choose, but they flagged and took away the rewards with one downvote, so there was no point in pushing the issue. As far as I was concerned it was public domain, but they said that Steemit is here to reward original content, which I do agree with.

It was hard to argue with his passion, so that was why I paid for the account and set him up. He wasn't in it for the money anyhow, which is good, and the reason I kept posting for him.
