Daily Devotion: God Given Responsibility

Responsibility is an obligation given to someone to be fulfilled within the specified period of time. What is your responsibility as a child of God?
We need to understand that Jesus has given us a general responsibility which is in Mathew 28:18-20

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in the earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
We are meant to spread the good news to the uttermost part of the earth.
Apart from that, there is some certain responsibility that God has placed in our hands which is.

Your Neighbour

As we are sons and daughters of God, there is a role for us to play daily...there is an action to propel positivity in the hearts of others. the negative atmosphere is not supposed to be released by a child of God. What do I mean?
Negative words are not to be spoken from a child of God. As the bible says in James 3:5-9
5, Even so, the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the sim

The tongue is powerful to create or to kill. Now there is a responsibility for you to play when you encounter someone in pain. There is a need for you to speak the words of life to that person. Encourage your neighbor, share a word of hope with the person and let the person know that there is a reason for living.

Yourself as your responsibility

Not only to someone but also to yourself. You have a responsibility to play for your life, family, and career. When you are passing through sad times or storms of life, what do you do? The bible said that Jesus stood up and spoke to the sea so that peace would be restored. Are you taking responsibility to speak to your challenges today? Or are you acting like the disciples without faith, crying over the storm while Jesus is beside you waiting for you to exercise the authority He has given to you? Jesus called them men of little faith because they failed to take responsibility.

Your Environment as your responsibility

Your environment is a factor that affects how you live irrespective of who you are. Who are you known to be in your environment? Do you take responsibility for Christ? Jesus spoke to the fig tree because it refused to yield fruit. Are you speaking words of life to your environment? Today is a day to take action on your environment. Speak living words to your economy, speak words at your working place. Your surrounding is your territory, so you got to speak those words of faith.

Prayer: Lord gives me the strength to take responsibility for all the things you have placed in my care. Amen!
