Offender Locator Inc.

  • It is listed on Google as www.thinairwireless.com, but the website doesn't exist. On Apple, it's listed as Offenderapps.com, which does exist. It is a single-page informational website.
    App: Android-free Android-full Apple-free, Apple-full
  • Price: Lite=free, Full=$.99 (Android), $29.99 (Apple)
  • Size: Android: free 20 MB, full 19 MB, Apple: free 22.1 MB, full 74.4 MB
  • Ratings: Google free: 3.1, full: 2.8; Apple free/full: 4.6
    • Customers for all versions complained of inaccurate/outdated info, and crashing. I didn't see any inaccurate data so it must've been fixed. I noticed that data on the various perps I looked at was 1-2 years old but this could be because the database it draws from hasn't received new data. The app crashed once in a while.
  • Last app update: Android free/full: October 5, 2018; Apple free: 2/12/2020, full: 8/6/2019
  • Provided by: Offender Locator Inc.
  • Search options: Local to map focus (starts where you are), drag map to focus on new area, national range. Using the menu, you can search by current location, address, contact address, or name. If you type in an address, there is a checkbox to receive emails with offender proximity alerts (full version).
  • Results: Many perps shown in the default wide radius, you can zoom in and out. List view shows all perps within the maximum radius no matter what the map radius last was.
  • Details given: The free version showed pins all over the area in and around where you live, and there's also a list view you can switch to (map and list icons at the bottom), which shows you a photo, name, address and distance from you. You can drag the map (no need to click) to show perps in other areas. If you click on a pin on the map it will show you the offender’s name and, if you click the name, it will give you a detailed report, including photo, name, address, charges, date of last offense, aliases, birthdate, IDing marks, gender, race, height, weight, eyes, hair and when the info was last updated, and there is a button to click to request an update of the info.
  • Other features: You can see recent views, share the app, give feedback and rate the app, and the Terms & Conditions. A Google banner ad is displayed near the top. The full version apparently disables ads and enables the proximity alerts. The full Apple version also claims to have a facial recognition search.
  • Thoughts: Although you cannot zoom in, the photo is large enough and there are enough details for most concerned people. Since you can see both adult and child predators, I find this to be worth using, offering more features than the NSOPW app, and then you can get the few added features if you want to make an apparently one-time payment to buy it. If the Apple version does have facial recognition, that’s a potential major feature that would allow you to take a photo of a suspected perp to verify them. A good choice given what you get and the one-time payment.
