Had a nice spring storm.
Thunder and lightning, hail, torrential rain, only happens occasionally here in the PNW. Freaked my dog out, but guessing he will sleep well tonight. He wanted to be close, I petted his head and told him all is well. Turned on some music, and stroked him more, until he decided to just go and hide on the rug in the hallway.
The storm is over now. These events are fun and help me feel alive, free from all the bullshit.
One of my favorite childhood memories, when I was probably only 5 or 6 years old, was when a really big thunder and lightning storm blew in when we lived on our small family farm on the northern coast of Maine. Dad decided to get us all into the car, including Specky our dog, and then drove us up to a hill top overlooking the bay to watch one of the most amazing light shows in the sky that I have never experienced since. The thunder was rocking the car!
Turns out, when we returned, the lightning had indeed struck our house, even with the customary lightning rods installed on the roof, and blew the phone box off the outside. No other damage, and what an exciting night!
