RE: Today I got certified in [Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma] If there was ever a post to "Resteem", let it be this one. Time to get educated and keep your children safe.
Here where I come from in Nigeria, some parents are already gotten used to abusing a child, more like disciplining the child. Most of the time, they say its so hard to control the child or maybe they get angry about something and its the child the anger is poured on...Please can you expansiate more on the short fall not leading to AHT, because a child could do a short fall and land on the wrong foot...
I believe when a parent is responsible, the child(ren) should not suffer abuse, because there eyes would be on the child 24/7. I have children close to my house which I really hope I could help, because right from the parents down to the children suffers some bruises and malnutrition...and even the place they leave, it is inevitable for the child not to have bruises...this is really a great post and am resteeming ASAP...thank you so much
Thank you for your in depth comment. It sucks that you are having to witness things like that, that are out of your control. A lot of the time these AHT's come from an inpatient parent, that have unrealistic expectations of what their child is capable of at its current developmental stage. And a lack of literacy on the human anatomy and how much damage can be done internally.
As in "short falls", that is being referred to as just simple falls, or "spills" that happen all the time with children. They can stumble and fall, or roll of a couch, etc. These instances are not severe enough to cause a brain damage injury, or result in permanent damage, or even death. This course was specifically aimed at recognizing abuse. Sure things happen. But if you take the time to watch the video that I presented at the end of the post it will go into great depth on the matter. I hope that helped. Thank you @sparklez
