This was the last tournament. Thank you all for playing 118 weeks in a row and see you online at lichess! As one stupid picture gets more payout than a 1 hour live stream and a tournament report with a group of Steemians I lost the energy to continue this project.

Please feel free to post your chess related links in the comments to grow the pool of players, thank you! You are welcome to create your own analysis or promotion post in other languages, please use the tag: steemchess!

Noooooo, no, please, don't give up this project. It's already part of my routine.

How about setting up the tournament without a password, so that more people can participate even if they are not yet on Steem? That's one possible way to allow more people to participate and not have so few players.

Also, even though I belong to another league (because my level is a little higher), I don't think I should be excluded from it and others. In a way I like this tournament and I like playing with you too.

Please don't cancel the project. If you don't want to shoot a video (because you might find it unprofitable or something), don't, but let's keep playing weekly.

Without password was also in my thoughts but you mentioned it! Thanks, after a one week break we will try it again.
As a chess trainer I know that I will learn only by playing stronger players, I like to win in every game with you some kind of experience.
An other thing is beserking, if we stop this, then the point difference will be not so high, what you thing?

You can also try to set up the tournament to avoid berserking as far as I know.

Okay, I'm looking foward to it.

I would keep the beserking, it gives the weaker players better odds and the better players an additional challenge.

This is all known and clear so far. I have often spoken in my videos about my strategy to defeat these crazies and sometimes won :)
But they get so many games that their points are far away from the other players. We need something in between or so.

Is this the last tournament? I can't believe I'm going to miss these games. Can figure out how to support this project?

2 years are a long time, and maybe a new idea is needed, we had too less players in the last weeks and the pairings got worse and worse. I am open for a new start.

Maybe we should do a below 2000 tournament?
I have the feeling that with eniol and reneron it was hopeless. They are in a different leage. I don´t know, just thinking why the number of players decreased over time.

  • Our tournaments are a nice opportunity to fight against stronger players, this is normally not possible. (Most learning happens in this kind of games for the weaker ones, for the stronger ones it could be boring)
  • Maybe with odds in time, as rene does it often, he start 30 minutes later, but this has to think through carefully. Odds in material is complicated to manage. Starting later means that he will face first the weaker ones so it is not good, better would be that the stronger players are only allowed to play lets say 30 minutes (>2200), 35 minutes (>2100), 40 minutes (>2000), 45 minutes (>1900), 50 minutes (>1800), 55 minutes (>1700), 60 minutes (all others).

I like this idea, but is it possible at Lichess?

Time odds can be self controlled by every player, no problem at all.
But I like to hear the top players opinion on this.

I'm not into this idea. If we cut Rene and eniolw, we will have even 2 players less. We should instead train hard and achieve their level so they will not be bored when playing with us :)

That is an impressive thought, exactly my vision :)

Hello @schamangerbert. I'm really impressed with your dedication along these years to keep the tournaments alive. I'm afraid to say that, with only 7 players, the event turned to have only a symbolic value. As you said, it is worthless to put energy on it. But I'm not sure if by cutting strong players you are going the get other players interested.
Of course, I want to win all my games and so the season, but I would be Ok to get "special conditions" in order to achieve a balance of forces. If you want to try it, I agree.

My apologies for my English...

What do You think about formats like Antichess or CrazyHouse? In these formats maybe 2000 players will have less advantage.
