Space
The more space you control on the board, the more room your pieces have to maneuver and we can use, and the less space your opponent has. A great way to claim space is to put your pawns in the center.
Black did not grab space in the center with a pawn. Let's take over Black's center and attack a developed piece!

Black's knight retreats to its only safe square. How can you attack the knight again?
It seems strange to chase the knight back to d5, but now that White has gained space with c5, Black's knight is out of safe squares. Can you find a way to win the d5 knight?
Black captures the pawn, but now the d5 knight is hanging. Win the piece!
White gained space, chasing Black's knight around the board until White was able to win that piece.
