Historical figures in chess before Fisher's era. Part-1.
Hello I am @krasimirkolev, 58 years old and just joined steemit 3 days ago, because my two sons convinced me to give it a try. I decided first to start to write about my main hobby which is chess. I have been playing and studying chess since the age of 12 and still love it. Going straight to the point here is the first part of the series about some less known highlighted figures in chess history before Fisher's, Karpov's and Kasporov's era:

Born in 7th of september 1726 close to Paris. Philidor joined the royal choir of Louis XV in 1732 at the age of 6, and made his first attempt at the composition of a song at the age of 11. It was said that Louis XV wanted to listen to the choir almost every day, and the singers, while waiting for the king to arrive, played chess to relieve their boredom; this may have sparked Philidor's interest in chess.
Philidor knew about the plans of his parents to continue the family tradition and become a musician, more so he was known to have marvelous musical ear. The royal choir was very strict and didn't allow any playing apart from chess and this contributed for his interest in it. Soon enough he was unmatched among his peers.
The culmination in his chess career comes after 1745 when he was simultaneously playing at two tables(blind)vs Denis Diderot and Dalambert winning both games.
He is well known for making "Analyse du jeu des Échecs" or Chess Game Analysis in 1749 which is translated in many languages and is his most acclaimed literature work.
After conquering the chess scene in France, he went to England and managed to win versus the most prominent English chess champions.
One famous quote of his is "Pawns are the soul of chess just like sounds are the soul of music".
At later stages in life he experienced difficulties because of the Anglo-French war therefore he was trapped in England and couldn't go back to France.A bit later he dies in London(1795), at the age of 68.Very few games played by him remain to this date.
