Short sacrifice analysis

My move 20 (Kxd5) where I sacrificed a knight for pawn was not sound even though I could turn a passed pawn into a queen. My opponent should have responded by moving his b pawn to b5, blocking my b pawn from covering my c pawn.

2nd blunder

On move 29 I played by rook to c1 whereas I should have played my pawn to c7. He takes on c7 and I check on e8 with my queen where black has to move his king and I can snatch the rook on b5.

All in all it was an enjoyable game with lots of room for improvement.

Sort:

The interesting proposal of Kasparov and Nikitin from an ancient book on the Scheveningen. White can opt to eat this horse with Be3xb6 to gain control of d5 but that move is definitely not on most attacking players’ radar screens. They just want to give mate.

Excellent game, great post, thanks for sharing
