What city or location did/do you live in? Did air routes change during your lifetime and/or has the frequency of high altitude overflights at your location increased over the decades? If so, by what exact figures?
I didn't perform a detailed scientific analysis of the situation. I looked up at the sky for 20 years and saw one thing and then later looked up and saw something different.
For approximately 15-20 years planes did not ever in my entire life up to that point leave a long persistent trail behind it. It wasn't that I never saw planes and then later I did. I played outside most of my young life. For whatever reason I thought jets were cool and until I was in my teens I would have announced to whoever was nearby, "Hey look there's a plane". Since I was about 20 years old give or take a few years, that's about the last 20 years, I'd guess about 80% of the planes I see leave a long persistent trail that lasts all day and slowly disperses into a white haze. No one has ever said there was some dramatic change in planes. I am told it's a natural effect caused by the conditions in the atmosphere. What was the drastic change in the atmosphere that made plane exhaust act completely different forever after but only on most planes and not on some others. The others act like all planes did up until about 20 years ago.
I live in central Alberta. I'm not sure how that changes anything but that's where I am.
You can try to argue or explain away what I know I've seen but you aren't going to change my mind. Like I said in the first comment, I have no idea what they are doing or what they are putting in the air but whatever it is they are lying about it so I'm assuming it's probably not for my health and happiness.
