BAYANIHAN|TSINELAS AT BAGAHE PARA SA KABABAYAN

Charity works never comes easy as this will be needing a lot of effort, perseverance, plan and of course budget. Every organization has this commitment to help individuals or group who are less fortunate or in a difficult situation. Here in UAE, we, as Filipino citizen and as an APO (Alpha Phi Omega) are fully committed in this kind of activity (since this is our cardinal principles LEADERSHIP, FRIENDSHIP, SERVICE).
Just last Wednesday, April 25th 2018, APO ADAAA (APO Abu Dhabi Alumni Association) conduct our first service in the Philippine Embassy. 18 luggage's and 65 slippers were hand over to Atty. Ophelia N. Almenario, Labor Attache, POLO Official.
The main purpose of this service is to help our distress kababayan's who are currently staying in the Philippine Embassy due to some run-away or undocumented expat issues. Knowing the fact they escape their employers, some of them doesn't have any clothes nor had the chance to bring their luggage. As a response to their situation, we decided to donate some luggage so whenever one of them has been granted to come back in the Philippines at least they won't bring a plastic bag. This is our way to uplift their emotional state of mind, giving some dignity while leaving UAE and entering our country.
Slippers is another story. There are some situation where our kababayan's had to face consequences and put behind the bars while their case are on process. Some stayed for a month, others suffer more than a years, it depends how heavy the case is. And if they are lucky to be granted a deportation, immediately they will be send at the airport-- bringing only the clothes he/she wears. For an instance, some of them wear a shoes, a pair of slippers or worst, nothing. So we came up with the idea of giving away several pairs of slippers.
APO ADAA promotes excellence in service, through the help of its members, we will continue to serve our fellow citizen and all those who will be needing it.
We are so happy that we have the opportunity to help others. We are lucky that we are able to survive our daily lives, that we have more and can enjoy the blessings showered to us. Let's pray for the safety of our distress kababayan's, that they may find peace in their heart and may the Lord always guide them until they reach their home.
