Venezuela needs your vote guys! Lets go!
Yesterday I came across the posts again of my Steemit friend @bigdude on what is happening at the moment in Venezuela.
In this post about what is currently happening in Venezuela @bigdude describes how just one simple cabbage in the supermarket will cost about $0.63. This sounds like a reasonable price until you read further and see that the average Venezuelan worker earns about $1.24 monthly
I was deeply shocked again.
Even though we all know hyperinflation is causing serious issues at the moment in Venezuela, when you see it written out like this, it is just unbelievable. I also asked my #whaleshares Discord buddy @steamdan on his situation there, and he also confirms this is just the current state of reality there.
Luckily we as a community can do something!
@bigdude is working on gathering SBD for the kids there to buy new shoes. As you can imagine with these kind of prices for groceries, is that buying shoes for the little ones is last on the priority list. But not having decent shoes can mess up childrens feet forever and who knows what that will do to their chances for a decent job in the future.
Well, they have made a tremendous effort already with buying 59 pairs of shoes for the kids payed with our upvotes. Isnt that fantastic??? 59 parents who will not have to worry about buying their kids shoes, but can focus on the normal groceries.
Okay, time to do something
@bigdudes idea is to get 100 pairs of shoes to the kids so that is 41 pairs to go still. @pennsif project A dollar a day charity is getting their own steemit account called @adollaraday and they are also making constant donations to @bigdude project. Support this project people!
Immediate result from a dollar a day
So I was thinking to myself and talking to @soyrosa on the #alldutch Discord about it, let me just buy some shoes here for them, and send them out. And 5 minutes later I rejected this thought immediately for these reasons.
- If I buy the shoes here cheap, they will most likely be from a mass producer using childrens labour. Not okay
- If I try to send a box to Venezuela, it might get intercepted by customs and that will be a loss (maybe even customs will sell them theirselves for all I know) Not okay
- If @bigdude can buy the shoes there locally, also that shoesalesman will benefit from this.
Conclusion, three winning reasons to use the blockchain for this
I find it so cool what @bigdude is trying to achieve with his Project Dudeland. They have also already bought schoolsupplies with SBD, gave food to the soupkitchen with SBD and fixed up a school kitchen with SBD. This is heartwarming. As he says himself:
MY COMMITMENT TO ALL OF YOU
We have delivered 59 pairs of New Shoes and 41 more are missing to reach the goal, it will be the second fundraiser to fulfill this ambitious project of donating 100 pairs of New shoes.
For the execution of this project the approximate amount of 80 SBD or 70 STEEM is required, that is 2.5 SBD / STEEM for each shoe, this is subject to change, since in my country , the price of things increase every day.
All this is subject to Change, remember that in Venezuela the value of the products increases every day.
For the peace of mind of those who wish to confirm the expenses of the donation, they may request said invoices, if they so wish.
So again guys,
Let you heart speak! Every cent of upvote will get a kid closer to some new shoes. I will set an example by also sending some liquid SBD to @bigdude account
I know its just 1.5 SBD but that is all my wallet has at the moment, but all little bits add up to something big!
But you dont have to SEND SBD. You can just give this post an upvote or a resteem and I will send all SBD generated by this post to @bigdude. That is what is so beautiful about Steemit.
It will not cost you anything but your vote.
I am a young Venezuelan who lives this reality, it is overwhelming that my mother only reaches the salary to buy food and it is not enough, she is forced to use a bank credit card to buy food, every day the situation is worse, my brother to school with shoes donated by my mom's friends, i use the ones I inherited from dad who died last year for lack of medication, the salary is not enough to buy shoes, my mom earns $ 3 a month and a pair of shoes costs the cheapest 10 $.
I support this initiative of @bigdude and the rest of the group and I hope that other Esteemians with power join and support with medicines, school supplies, help for the elderly who die of hunger every day. I congratulate once again this group of Steemians thanks for supporting my country Venezuela, its publication deserves a restem
Wow this is so humbeling to hear man, and it makes me incredibly sad to hear that you guys have to fight so hard every day just to get by and have a normal life.
I will put you on follow and see if I can support you as well in any of this (Im only a small minnow in the big steemit sea so dont expect miracles).
You are already a step ahead because you are using steemit and you have an option to get some extra cash. Be safe and please take care my friend
thanks @Karinxxl for reading my comment, steemit for me has been a sea of opportunities, with my mom's help I write my poems every day and read other steemians. Venezuela needs support
That is just fantastic that you can share these with the world and make a buck with it. Keep on Steeming my friend, together we can do so much!
Wish you strength and Happiness Buddy! hopefully things would get better :-)

i have ample kids shoes here ( i do scrapping for a living, and collect shit people usually throw out ) - how can i send them?
Wow that is a good question!
I was talking to @bigdude already about this, but maybe it would be easier that you send him a message or so if you have so many shoes in spare!
Cool initiative!!
This post was shared in the Curation Collective Discord community for curators, and upvoted and resteemed by the @c-squared community account after manual review.
Beautiful initiative! Resteemed, upvoted and sent some SBD to @bigdude. Keep up the good works!
Super cool of you! All these small efforts together will turn out into loads of shoes for the kids together. Thank you so much!

Such a great initiative! So nice of you to help @bigdude here to collect the money for those children. I can't even imagine how that must feel with the hyperinflation.. you both are great!
Just being the messenger in this one. He is doing all the hard work!
There is so much going on there, every little thing we can do together is something! thank you @anouk.nox

You are the best dude! Together we can make such a difference!
You are such a wonderful soul @karinxxl. I'm glad I can help you and the people in Venezuela just by giving this my 100% vote. Although it is not that much ... it's the least I can do!
In this case Hetty every little drop turns into an extra shoe right???
Thanks for your support!
