🚒 It's Not Too Late to Help Fire Victims in Catmon, Malabon 🤝
Recovery is underway but any additional help we can give through our upvotes will be highly appreciated.
An estimated 1,000 families lost their homes to a 6-hour fire in Catmon, Malabon on May 24, 2018. It started at noontime and lasted until the early evening that day. The ‘Barangay’/village was declared under the state of calamity.
It’s more than two kilometers away from where I live but I learned only two days ago, one of my wife’s close friends knows a few people who need help in having their house constructed. Hence, we came up with a plan to raise funds in order to help with reconstruction. I took the picture above last Sunday on Governor Pascual Ave. Most of the affected area has already been cleaned up and little by little, their lives are coming back to normal. The process can only be a little bit faster with help from the Steemit community.

This drone video gives us an idea on how widespread the fire was and how difficult it was to contain despite access to the place through the main road (Governor Pascual Ave.). That's why the renovation will probably take a few more months to complete despite the efforts of the local people and help from the city government.

Update: I have chatted with Mr. Rolando Batario. He works as a security guard. He just got home and napped a little before he heard of the fire. He's lucky since he managed to salvage some of their valuables before rushing out of their house with his family.
