Giving Back; Steemians Visit The Orphanage. Putting Smiles On The Face Of The Less Privileged.
Tears poured down my eyes when myself and some steemians visited an orphanage. If you have freedom and access to social amenities, if you have people you can call parents and a place you can call home, then you categorically you should be thankful.
There comes a time
When we heed a certain call
When the world must come together as one
There are people dying
Oh, and it's time to lend a hand to life
The greatest gift of all
We can't go on
Pretending day-by-day
That someone, somewhere soon make a change
We're all a part of God's great big family
And the truth, you know, love is all we need
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day, so let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day, just you and me
Oh, send them your heart
So they know that someone cares
And their lives will be stronger and free
As God has shown us by turning stones into bread
And so we all must lend a helping hand
We are the world

If you do not know, I can identify with poverty. I know what lack means, maybe you feel I was born with a silver spoon and grew up with a golden plate to eat, the answer is NO. The only difference is I have my parents and I have people I can call family which includes steemians. I can Identify with drinking untreated water and having nothing to eat. I can identify with poverty feeding formulas which include 1-0-0, 0-1-0, 0-0-1 (You will understand if you have ever experienced poverty. anyway, I will give a key; wherever you see 0, it means No food and anywhere you see 1, it shows the person ate something). I am tell you days when I will have to fast for two days and the break the fasting with garri or Pap (Ogi).
It was a dejavu when we arrived the orphanage, I had a throwback to everything I had gone through which includes pain, fear and rejection. Anyway, myself and some very good steemians which include @steve1122, @illuminatus, @bat-junior, @olamisexy, @hormork18 and others to mention a few (please forgive me if I didn't mention your name) went to put smiles on their faces. We brought them hope and the will to fight like warriors until they achieve something great.
Steemit has given the opportunity to Homo sapiens, thereby giving us access to the blockchain technology, thereby making us become what we are today and we thought one good thing to do is to put a smile on the face of others.
We visited Covenant Orphanage and Welfare Home to see orphans who are not as privileged as you and I. We met with lots of kids, growing children and young adults who do not have parents. You can imagine what being an orphan in a third world country will be like, if the general public isn't feeding well.
A beautiful girl named Testimony was not willing to let me go, she stuck to me just like bread and butter. We made them laugh, smile, we shared their pains with them and made it lighter. We got them food items and also assisted in paying for 3 WAEC and 1 JAMB form for 4 orphans. They were happy as they had been looking for someone who will help lift the burden of paying for the external examination. Wunmi, one of the orphans who we paid her JAMB fee promised to pass the examination so she can get admission into a University to study Law.
It was a fun experience and we are glad we could do that. I hope to keep putting smiles on peoples faces. The Reward From This Post Will Be Dedicated To Putting Smiles On The Faces Of The Less Privileged.
