RE: The MiniDisc Rediscovered through Changelings (Panasonic SJ-MR50)

in #changelings6 years ago

Man, I love MiniDisc too. It was such a versatile and robust recording unit that somehow lost its place in the market.

Many many hours were spent hand recording/curating compilations from CD to minidisc via the stereo. I must have ripped 30-40 albums over the years.

I actually sold a stack of used ‘discs’ and got an amazing price for them on eBay - they weirdly hold a lot of value still (for some people)

I love what you say about its mechanical parts and the aesthetic of you wanting the film to be like
minidisc ”Kind of old, but new. Familiar and strange.”

Vapourware sounds like they’ve got a good thing going. I love that it’s being brought back in that way; reconnecting people to a product and not just a code.

Very cool! I'm so tempted to waste my money and buy a Hi-MD player / recorder. I miss physical media. Vaporwave is very cool. There's so much going on in that genre and it's worth visiting.
