Put your niche(s) on Google My Maps. | Steemit Challenge Season 24 Application

Greetings friends. I'm José DHoy, passionate about creativity and the arts, living in Venezuela. I discovered Steemit in 2017 and since then I've been involved in content curation, being part of the Tipu Curators Project and Seven Network Project, in addition to moderating in the Venezolanos Steem and ᴀʀᴛ & ᴀʀᴛɪꜱᴛꜱ communities.
For three years now, I've been maintaining a daily curation blog titled Daily Curation on Steemit where I select posts for the tags: artonsteemit, steemvideo, and posts of all kinds. With this post, I express my intention to apply for the 24th season of the SLC.
One of my hobbies
Shall I tell you something personal about myself? I'm a fan of maps and atlases. Here are three examples of how I've used collaborative maps since my time as a teacher, when I discovered Google My Maps.
Examples of using Google My Maps for Steemit
MAP | Description |

In ᴀʀᴛ & ᴀʀᴛɪꜱᴛꜱ | An artist directory |
In Venezolanos Steem | Gastronomic Research |
In SLC 21 "Write in Micro Size" | Each layer represents a week of the challenge |

FOCUS: Custom Maps to Boost Creations on Steemit
A proposal that invites Steemit content creators to explore and enhance their niches by developing posts, topics, and participatory activities that can be geographically characterized, using the customizable map tool Google My Maps.
Furthermore, as a learning challenge, the proposal joins and complements the Steem Atlas project, as participants would develop skills in online map geolocation, layering, and tour creation, surveys, and many other tools that can be found in a custom map. Perhaps in the near future, Steem Atlas will incorporate custom maps.

Objectives:
1- Explore the potential of Google My Maps as a tool for content creation on and off Steemit.
2- Help creators stand out and grow in their niches and other areas of interest that allow geolocation.
3- Connect Steemians with similar interests in collaborative activities on and from their maps.
Project Outline:
Duration: | 6 weeks |
---|---|
3 weeks | focused on familiarizing and developing skills for using Google My Maps |
3 weeks | focused on creating content that incorporates the participation of other Steemians in the created maps. |

Weekly Challenge Outline
🌐 Week 1. Getting Started on Google My Maps: The participant defines at least three niches or themes they would focus on during the SLC 24 challenge. Create a map with a layer for each niche. Create a post on Steemit, presenting their map and including a link to it.
🌐 Week 2. Tours and Geographic Areas. Create tours and polygonal shapes with important places in their city. Include photos, videos, and information for each place. Create a post inviting readers to take the tour on the map.
🌐 Week 3. Create Localizable Content. Under the theme: “Fantastic Beasts and Creatures of My Country,” participate in a collaborative map, presenting two fantastic creatures, their legends, stories, references, and/or artistic creations. Follow the instructions for using layers and filling out forms.
🌐 Week 4. Your first collaborative map. Choose one of your niches or topics and create a contest-style post (real or imaginary) in which you invite other Steemians to answer a 5-question form on the topic.
🌐 Week 5. Our planet Earth. Choose a topic related to the week's challenge. Create a layer on the map where, with the help of other Steemians, you document the current status of that topic in different countries. Invite other Steemians to make contributions related to it. Evaluate and respond to their contributions.
🌐 Week 6: Video Portfolio. Given the SLC closing map, the participant creates a video summary of their experiences during each week of the challenge. Present evidence, add links, and record your evaluation to the facilitator.

Evaluation Indicators for Selecting Winners
Use of Google My Maps, geolocation, map customization, use of layers. Creation of tours, creation of forms.
Original and Quality Content: Posts that explore the topic from your perspective and experience.
Collaboration: Measured by comments on your peers' posts and the maps you contributed to.
Avoid the Use of AI
✅ The proposed methodology involves individual practical processes and activities.
✅ The instructions will be designed to encourage individuality and personalization.
✅ Participants will be asked to record references and external sources that are free of copyright.
✅ In cases that appear suspicious, they will be monitored with applications to detect AI.

Éxitos con esta original propuesta. Engloba diferentes aspectos muy interesantes.
Hola
Que bueno que te gusta la propuesta, tú has sido de gran ayuda en el diseño de la misma, demostraste que se puede y es fácil usar esa herramienta.
Gracias
Very interesting proposal.
This type of more complex / technical subject matter in recent seasons of the Steemit Learning Challenge attracted quite a small number of participants.
What sort of numbers of people do you think will participate in your Challenge?
Hi, dears.
Certainly, although this particular topic seems complex, it is quite simple once the participant discovers how easy it is. Outside of Steemit, I have tested it with high school students in 2016 and 2017.
Regarding participation
I think with SCL's support, we could reach around 20 participants, to begin familiarizing themselves with the application. That, and find a way to connect with Steem Atlas for a few weeks.
Testing on Steemit
Here on Steemit, I have conducted two tests in the Venezuelan Steem Community, with 5 participants, and 3 valid entries. Link: https://steemit.com/venezolanos-steem/@joslud/resultados-aprendamos-en-venezolanos-or-reto-1-familiarizate-con-google-my-maps
So I decided to change the strategy, to familiarize the participant. Here is an evaluation of the results of 6 weeks of contests. Link: https://steemit.moecki.online/venezolanos-steem/@joslud/reporte-de-evaluacion-del-concurso-asi-preparan-la-arepa-en
